Graham’s Design Welcome to a space where I can share my work.

I find pieces of furniture that are no longer wanted and lovingly paint, stain and embellish them in the hopes that others will add them to their homes to enjoy.

I have had my eye on this paper for so long, waiting for just the right piece of furniture to put it on. When I needed something for a wall in our dining room, I thought this was just perfect, given I’m a redhead and also have raised monarchs. One large canvas and some craft paints with lots of blending and here she is!! I dirtied up the edges and some of the lighter areas for blending in the seam of the paper. Really pleased with the end result.

For my local followers, I have this dresser available. Painted for the appearance of brushed metal, several colors were used with a crosshatch brushing (a favorite faux finish of mine). The dresser was hand made by a gentleman in the early 1900s. I’ve worked on plenty of pieces and never found one as solid as this, right down to the brass casters. Commented and I can send you more details.

SOLD. This is one of the first pieces I did, along with a matching buffet, which we still use I’ve had it in our home for years. The exterior was painted to blend with our decor, but for the inside….I wanted a pop of color to show through the glass, so that was painted a royal blue. The back was brightened to blend by decoupaging gift wrap that had a beautiful blue marble look. Hardware and accents were brightened using gold Rub and Buff. The entire piece was sealed with clear wax. I see old hutches/china cabinets on marketplace so often, I think because people don’t have dishes and tchotchkes as they used to, but these pieces can be used for other things like showcasing about anything you might collect and makes a great bookcase.

I really enjoy the before and after shots. This was a nice solid dresser with a few bad spots on the top, and there had been child locks on the drawers that were pretty stubborn to get off. The hardware was great so that helped. Cork fabric was added to the face of each drawer to give some character. SOLD

A great use for an older China hutch is to use it in the kitchen for extra storage, space permitting of course. This holds cook books, Dutch ovens, serving platters, and a few old family kitchen keepsakes, like my mom’s Pyrex bowls. It also is a great place to hold canisters of flour and sugar. Color is Benjamin Moore Newburyport blue. This color is repeated on the walls of the dining room.

Dropped off these drawing tables today, and they were a hit. Our great grands will draw up some beautiful artwork 🥰 Made from old end tables, these have been so much fun to create Because furniture has gotten larger, these end tables are almost too short to be used as intended. A perfect way to make them useful again.
