I’ve wanted an allotment for literally YEARS. Fun fact… I actually had one once! 😂 I finally got to the top of the waiting list, was offered a plot… and then found out I was pregnant with one of the kids.

And when I say the allotment was overgrown, I mean OVERGROWN Swipe to see the jungle I was given ➡️

This was September 2018 pregnant with my second child, This was the first time I went to look at my allotment. It was so bad it probably needed a digger rather than a spade! Being pregnant, it was very quickly decided that it just wasn’t happening, and I ended up giving the plot back to the council

Since the allotment was a no go I started growing a few bits of fruit and veg at home and very quickly became completely obsessed.
There is something SO satisfying about planting a tiny seed and eventually eating something you’ve grown yourself.

Then I discovered my biggest pest… FRANK.
I’d been worrying about birds, slugs and insects eating my crops.
Turns out I also needed to worry about my bulldog. 😂

Frank genuinely thought the garden was his own organic, all-inclusive buffet.
He’d dig up carrots, pluck strawberries straight from the plants and basically help himself whenever he fancied a snack

Ever since, I’ve thought about having another go. And I think now might finally be the right time. 🥕🌱

The kids are older now and are actually really interested in growing things and helping out. We already grow a few bits in the garden, and there are allotments literally just behind our house, so it feels like the perfect time to give it another go.

Growing fruit and vegetables is a skill that was never really passed down to me. I genuinely know very little about growing things… but I’d love to change that and, more importantly, pass that knowledge on to my kids.

So I’m starting from absolute beginner level

And then THIS happened…
17 KILOS of tomatoes. 😳

SEVENTEEN.

What started with a few little plants in the garden has somehow turned into me harvesting 17kg of tomatoes and wondering what on earth I’m going to do with them all.

And this is exactly why I want that allotment. 🌱
I’ve wanted one for years, and now I’m finally determined to make it happen.

It’s been another successful thermomix day. It started off with the usual porridge made courtesy of Phoebe

Tea was chicken honey & mustard, steamed rice and carrots with some new potatoes

After watching bake off I’ve been craving cookie so I made these hazelnut and raisin chocolate cookies 🍪

I needed to use some of my tomatoes so I made this huge batch of tomato chutney. I’m also going to take one to my customer at my demo tomorrow 💚
