This one didn't take as long to design as the fish the other day... however it did take while to get it to print properly. I have a lot of green spaghetti after multiple attempts which failed to stick to the printer bed. Finally figured out that I didn't have the base flat enough, so a single part was adhering but then the rest was raised off the bed enough to just hang loose, and make a mess. Kind of like a real croc, I guess!

You don't want to know how many hours I spent yesterday trying to get this design to look roughly right! Still needs a few more tweaks, and some silver filament, but it is definitely getting there!

The bullet has been bitten.... I've just booked a stall at the Festival Of The K**b next month - time to make this happen!

This will be the 20th anniversary of this event, on Saturday 6/6, from 10-4, on the Esplanade at Yorkeys K**b.

Come along and say g'day! But be gentle >:÷ never done this before!!!

And there we go, the real thing :-) Palm Cove earrings!

There, I've done it. Changed the name. After eleven and a half years as Nightfall Wood Art, this is now.... Nightfall Craftology. Still me. Still the same stuff - just a recognition that the stuff isn't just wood.

Next stop? Markets. I have a marquee heading this way. Air pump for the laser engraver is coming too (that should help reduce the charring on that stuff!). Working on display methods for the multitude of earrings and other stuff that I have sitting around my study. Designing more signs. More clocks. More earrings. I've designed and 3D printed a rotating stand for my mica and glitter for my resin stuff, to keep that accessible and neat (yeah I was shocked too!) I went and scoped out the Tanks Markets last Sunday, and going to do the same at the Palm Cove Markets this Sunday. Best advice I got from one of the stall-holders? "You're never ready". I keep planning this, and saying I'll do it once I have all my stuff together. Well using that advice, no more excuses - I just need to commit to it, do it, and make it happen with what I have.

I know this page has been a bit hit and miss for a while too, I'll go ages without posting anything then BAM a heap of stuff then nothing again for a while. I'm going to do my absolute best to keep things happening here... and look forward to seeing you all at the markets when I get there - hopefully in about a month from now.

Nightfall update time!

Years ago someone pointed out that the name Nightfall Wood Art was no longer applicable, as so much of what I do nowadays is not wood. The answer that I gave myself at the time was that maybe rather than being Nightall "Wood Art", it was actually "Nightfall Wood" Art. And so I decided not to change it, and to embrace the contradiction.

Well now I'm taking concrete steps towards actually taking my stuff to a market and running a stall, and I think I want to rebrand slightly. The application form for the Tanks Markets (here in Cairns) requires the name of your stall - fair enough thing to start with! But it means I need to make a decision. Whatever I do, it will still be Nightfall something-or-other... but what?

A few things that I've contemplated:
- Nightfall Wood* Art
- Nightfall Crafting
- Nightfall Craftology
- Nightfall ArtHaus
- Nightfall CoffeeCatCraft

Ok so some of them I haven't contemplated very hard. Crafting and ArtHaus are both out. So that leaves three to consider.

Nightfall Wood* Art keeps things basically as they are. In the same way that Woolworths have "the fresh food people", this one would be followed by an expansion of the asterisk - something along the lines of "*wood, resin, 3D printing etc".

Nightfall Craftology sounds a bit nerdy, crafty, techy, sciencey... a bit like me! Subheading for this.... "Powered by coffee and cats", or maybe "Powered by coffee, cats and ADHD".

Nightfall CoffeeCatCraft. You may not know this about me but I have a caffiene molecule tattooed on my leg. And both of my other tattoos are cats. I don't know if this one needs anything to follow it up, I think it says it all.

What do you think? Keep it as is? Change to one of these? Change to something else? Anything specific for or against any of these? I'm aware that there is a company called Home Craftology, and someone else is using Coffee Cat Craft, but neither of them have any link to Nightfall. Anything I've missed?

I'd love to know your thoughts.

So I know today is Valentine's Day... but yesterday was Friday the 13th... and dunno about you, but where I was, it really acted like it. Thus I was inspired... they need a bit more refinement (can such a thing be refined??) before turning them into earrings, but hey, they are what they are so far. Plus, depending on how you go, they COULD work for Valentine's Day too ;-)
