I absolutely love this pairing - a stapeliad from in a nature-inspired pot I made about 2 years ago but only got fired last year. It unfortunately had some cracks in the base, so I couldn’t sell it. I’ve had one disaster after another with my new kiln. 4 disastrous firings before finding the problem & it’s still not fixed. I had pots melting on my shelves with glaze everywhere - any potter will know what a stuff-up that is - and 6 months of work ruined.

Astonishingly, one pot actually came out the way it was supposed to. Over-fired for sure, but the texture was 100% what I was going for with a new volcanic glaze. I LOVE the detail!

I set up early at the bonsai show yesterday - a bunch of pots were nabbed as I put them out. That’s what I love about the succulent & bonsai communities 😁 We’re passionate about our obsessions & when we see something we like, that hammer comes down 😂 I’m hoping to go & see the exhibit on Sunday - no trees were out yet when I was there as I was super early. The artistry on display at this annual show is always something magical to see. If you go, drop some photos! Different angles; different lighting; same pot 🤷🏻‍♀️ Something interesting to stare at from every angle - one of my habitat series which I love making. It’s a process completely lacking in the usual finesse I have to put into most pots. My habitat pots need to look like they come straight out of the earth, like a scoop of mud with a hollow & texture 😁😁 That’s not to say they’re super simple to make - they just have to LOOK super simple to make.
