Green Lighting, in partnership with eWASA (EPR Waste Association of South Africa) and supported under South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, is pioneering a first-of-its-kind lighting and portable battery recycling pilot in eThekwini.

The facility focuses on the safe recovery and processing of automotive lighting, LED units, and small electronic lamps — materials that often contain complex metals and polymers requiring responsible end-of-life management.

Through advanced crushing, separation, and filtration technology, Green Lighting ensures environmental compliance and worker safety, while recovering glass, aluminium, and plastics for reintegration into the manufacturing value chain.

This initiative demonstrates more than technical innovation — it’s a model for localised recycling capacity, green job creation, and circular economy leadership.
