You shouldn’t try to do it all, if someone says they do, they are not balanced in someway.
(I’m sharing something I’ve learned over the last 5 years as a mom, something I shared with a friend who is an amazing mother doubting her ability to do it all.
Something I had to learn through therapy.)
We used to live in villages where the mother was surrounded with different help, from grandmothers watching the baby, a neighbor cooking or a sister washing the dishes. You need physical help, especially with baby #2!
Most people send their kids to day care, or have a nanny, or have family who watch the kids a few hours a week so they can do a little bit of work.
I’m so thankful help is affordable here in South Africa. I don’t know where I would have been without the lovely ladies who help hold my house together. Even their joy and smile adds something to our family and gives me support. I honestly don’t know how moms who try to do it all function honestly! I can hardly function with help some days! 😅
You’re doing amazing, and just you thinking you should be able to do it all, shows how strong and capable you are. But you’ll find more balance and peace and joy in trying not to do it all!
Here’s to all the new mammas, seasoned mammas and wise mammas; you truly hold the world in your hands. Ask for help, and let your village, whoever is there, carry that weight.
You’re doing amazing, wherever and whatever capacity you hold right now.
