Can you actually make money selling dignity?

I put that question to creative students at their answer blew me away.

There’s a misconception that creative brains can’t run businesses. My experience screams the opposite. I went in to teach. I came out the student 👩🏽‍🎓 thanks to Professor Dalia Mahmoud’s mentorship and a room full of innovators who refuse to fit in boxes.

The UE students found the YES.

Project coming soon. Stay tuned.

💪🏼 Back to school or acrobatics for working mamas 💪🏼

We work with mums, and we work for families.

And there is one thing that is part of our culture:

If you’re a mama, your children will always be the priority.

I run a business. I need my team here. Their presence is essential, and I don’t believe in remote work for what we do.

But motherhood doesn’t disappear when you clock in.

For expat women in entry-income positions especially, sometimes babysitting simply isn’t an option.

So if mama needs to bring her kiddos to work, she brings them.

No guilt. No awkward conversation. No choosing between work and being a mother.

They play around the shop, test half our collection, make themselves comfortable… and mama works.

Mothers who need or want to be in the workforce face more challenges. It’s a fact. We need workplaces that make room for the reality of motherhood.

No mama should have to sacrifice motherhood for financial security.

And yes, I’m tempted to say parents. But I’m holding my horses.
Piano piano.
One revolution at a time. 🫢🫣

We sell children’s furniture. We talk about beautiful rooms, play, learning and Back to School.

But for too many families, Back to School isn’t even a concept. Food comes first.

That’s why this one matters to us.

LPM Home is joining ShareTheMeal to help raise 100,000 meals.

A meal = Education = opportunity = change the trajectory of an entire family.

AED 3 = 1 meal.

Let’s get those kids to school.

Six months of regional challenges, aka war, and the consequences have travelled far beyond the region.

Sales slowed.
Projects moved.
Costs increased.
Cash flow tightened.

The kind of environment where doing less is considered reasonable.

We chose differently.

We kept our team.
Protected salaries.
Hired.
Travelled.
Signed new partnerships.
Expanded.

Not recklessly. Not blindly.

I know the numbers.
I know the risks.
Excel and I are in a very committed relationship these days.

But not every good business decision looks good the month you make it.

Sometimes protecting your people, your relationships and your momentum IS the strategy.

So we’re watching every dirham without letting fear become CFO.

Adjusting, not retreating.
Careful, but moving.

Will every decision prove right? Probably not.
But standing still waiting for certainty was never going to be one of them.

I control the effort, not the outcome.

Yaqeen and Tawakkul.

And back to work. x

How was your July?

My business is my life. It goes everywhere with me.

By default, my family and friends are part of it too.
Our travels are shaped around it.
They know. I know.
They never asked for it but it’s now part of us.

July was when the squeeze became real.

5 months into what started as a regional situation and grew into something with global consequences.

It hurts.

In my head… the ring of fire.

That point where the pain itself forces you to push.
Not because you’re brave.
Not because you’re ready.
Not like you have another option.

And right now, through all the noise, there’s only one thing I can hear:

“Madam, push.

Now.”

To my kids,

There is a fine, invisible line between stupidity and courage.

They wear the same clothes: audacity, stubbornness, determination, loneliness, fear.

They carry the same scent.
That raw one that colonises your nostrils and hits your head, sometimes making a tear roll before you even know what you’re feeling. The same scent that makes you want to inhale again because there is something imperceptible in it you almost want to taste.

They stand the same way: tall, assertive, back straight, chin high, feet rooted deep into your soil and your soul.

They move the same way too: strong but slow. Something almost regal, without the crown.

And they have the same price without costing the same…

One is an investment. The other, a liability.
One leaves you with debt. The other gives you assets.
One expands your patrimony. The other forces you to borrow from yourself or your closest ones.

The inconvenient part is that you often only know which one it was once it’s done.

The outcome gets to name the act.

So spend your 20s testing stupidity
Spend your 30s risking it

And by your 40s, I hope you’ve lived enough to know what deserves another chance and what deserves a never again.

If you choose never again, let it not be from lack of courage, but from an accumulation of wisdom.

And if, after all that, you still choose to keep a what if alive. let it be character.

I love you,
Mama 🫶🏼

A lot can happen in 9 days.

Some things fill your heart.
Some refill your head.
Some remind you why you love what you do.

And some make you register for a marathon when you’ve never run a day in your life.

I’m calling it range.

2 weeks without posting.

Not because nothing happened. Quite the opposite.
A lot happened. I just found myself questioning why I’m documenting it at all.

I created this page to share what it looks like to start again after 40 and build a business in an industry I knew absolutely nothing about.
I’d never worked in retail. Never worked in furniture. I started from scratch, learned as I went, made mistakes, figured things out and thought there might be value in sharing that journey.

And then there’s everything we’re told as entrepreneurs:
People buy from people.
Build your personal brand.
Stay visible.
Build an audience today because you might need it tomorrow.
Feed the algorithm so it remembers you exist.

I understand the logic.
I’m just not sure I believe all of it.

Because I also work with very successful people who barely exist on Instagram.
And personal branding? It’s a job.
Remembering to film your day is a job.
Creating a good Reel is a skill.
Finding purpose in every picture, a lesson in every meeting and a story in every moment… also a job.

Then, just as I start questioning the whole thing, someone tells me they found my business because they found me first.
And here we go again.

There is also one reason I keep coming back to.
I like the idea that in 10 years, my children can scroll through this page and watch Mama build something from nothing.

Then I ask myself: why does that need to be public?

Maybe because another woman starting again after 40 might find something useful in the messy parts of this journey.

Or maybe that’s just a sophisticated story I’m telling my ego so I keep posting.

I genuinely don’t know.
