TRATTORIA | Beyond the Restaurant

This extended beyond dining.
The pergola connects into the poolside with round loungers, layered planting, and retractable yellow-and-white awnings that shift with the weather.

Because the building sits on a curve, those awnings weren’t straightforward to implement. Every section had to follow the geometry precisely.

Before fabrication, I built and rendered the entire scheme in SketchUp to test proportions, shadow, structure and flow.

For hospitality projects especially, I don’t leave that to guesswork.If it doesn’t resolve digitally, it won’t resolve on site.
Seeing the renders align with reality is always satisfying.

Inside the Pergola

Once inside, it’s about the atmosphere.
Filtered sunlight through the slats. Plants draping into the water feature. Banquette seating to create intimacy and longer stay time.

We introduced mosaic tabletops as a subtle Italian reference, nothing themed, just layered.

One lesson from this project is to always test materials properly for exterior hospitality spaces in Dubai.

We trialled a few faux planting options, and the heat was unforgiving. It simply doesn’t last. In this climate, material honesty and durability matter more than aesthetics alone. Real plants will take over the space within a few months, and the faux ones will dissappear.

Designing hospitality here means balancing beauty with performance.

By dividing the room cleverly, we carved out a cosy TV snug perfect for movie nights, and a piano corner that brings both music and style into the heart of the home. The neutral palette keeps things warm and calm, while those cheeky black and white stripes add just the right dash of modernity and fun.

Proof that with the right design moves, even the biggest spaces can feel inviting and lived-in.

Who says rentals have to be boring?
Getting this 3-metre dining table up 14 flights of stairs was a mission, but the results were so worth it.

Burnt orange velvet chairs add that luxe pop against a soothing palette of neutral stone, leather trapeze lights, and emerald green accents. The Dubai skyline peeks through just enough thanks to those breezy curtains that filter the heat but keep the view alive.

Design tip? Don’t hold back on statement furniture just because you don’t own the walls.

We leaned into a calming palette of soft natural leathers, deep black accents, and textured wood to create a sophisticated yet cozy vibe. From the sculptural lighting to the earthy tones and curated shelving, every detail was chosen to elevate the blank space.

Design tip: Rentals don’t have to be boring. It’s all about smart styling, layers, and a bold moment or two.

I love the transformation from a raw, uninspired concrete box to a bold, energetic marketing hub—this space is now designed to fuel ideas, collaboration, and innovation.
This statement entrance with the company logo breathes life into the space.
The walls appear to float by using panneled lighting strips and different textures.

This office was the definition of a soulless concrete box—uninspiring, dull, and completely disconnected from the energy of the people who work here.
So, we at Lost in Interiors reimagined it into a space that fuels creativity, connection, and bold ideas.
