From the Archives: Rouge Glamour ❤️

Someone once told me I have a thing for red. Maybe they are right. Red lipstick, red nails, a fascination with Valentino red… and somehow, even if subtle, there is often a bit of red in my interiors too.

But Rouge Glamour in Dubai Hills was where we really went for it. Reds, deep burgundies, black, dramatic, glamorous and completely UNAPOLOGETIC.

Looking back through my camera roll, I still love it.

Every project has a “do we dare?” moment.

For Kite, it was the oxblood cabinet.

We knew the room needed one bold gesture. Something to bring depth, warmth and just enough contrast without disturbing the calm.

Safe to say, we dared :)

Less noise.
More presence.

Kite Villa is built on quiet contrasts: soft against sculptural, warm against cool, restraint against moments of boldness.

A home designed to feel calm before it ever feels impressive.

Every project ends with a reveal. This was Kite’s.

As designers, it’s the day we quietly look forward to.

Months after the first sketch, this is the day we walk back into the spaces we’ve imagined, questioned, refined and obsessed over. The day we slow down long enough to see them with fresh eyes.

The photoshoot isn’t just about capturing beautiful images. It’s about trying to capture a feeling. The light we waited for. The balance we kept adjusting. The quiet moments we hoped the house would hold.

For me, it’s the first time we stop designing and simply experience the home.

A day to savour the journey. To quietly celebrate with the incredible team and our clients before we step away and they make it their own.

With gratitude to everyone who helped bring Kite to life.

Every project is a series of decisions. Some are obvious, some are more intuitive. Most are the ones no one notices, but they’re often the ones that hold everything together.

For our Kite project, this existing solid travertine library was one of them. We went back and forth on whether to remove it and redesign it in a more contemporary language to tie in with the aesthetic we were aiming for. In the end, it felt too much a part of the architecture to erase. Instead, we looked for a way to connect it to the rest of the house.

A carefully curated collection of vintage books gave it a new purpose. It became a quiet reading nook - a place to step away, take a call, read a book, or simply sit in quiet reflection.

As you enter the home, your eye is naturally drawn through the space. The symmetry of the sofas, the Rakumba chandelier and the view beyond creates a real sense of arrival.

Then came another beautiful challenge: the five-metre artwork by Slimane El Kamel.

It already had so much presence and colour that it didn’t need anything trying to outshine it. It simply needed the right company. A marble and lacquered wood console, together with deep green ceramics, felt like enough. Grounding the composition while allowing the artwork to remain the hero.

Some of the best design decisions aren’t about adding more or “doing more”. They’re about knowing when to let one extraordinary piece lead the conversation.

A little peek into our Kite Villa project ✨

Every project begins with an idea, but it’s the 999 decisions that shape how it finally feels!

Over the next few posts, I am excited to share some of the thinking behind this home as well as the moments that almost took it in a different direction.

If there is one composition that captures what inspired me most throughout our Kite Villa project, it’s this.

The quiet discipline of the architecture. The rhythm of the lines. The softness of the Astrid Dahl sculpture against the precision of the console. The depth of the Khan painting holding it all together.

It’s the tension between curve and line, softness and structure. Matte against gloss. Limewashed walls, textured ceramic and a polished lacquered console, each bringing a different quality to the composition.

Every element feels stronger because of the one beside it.
