The idea behind the telegraph – sending electric signals across wires – originated in the early 1700s. Samuel Morse began working on his version in 1832; he developed Morse Code and by 1838 he had presented his concept to the U.S. Congress. He was not the first to think of the idea – 62 people had claimed to invent the first electrical telegraph by 1838 – but Morse beat everyone else by being the first to get political backing for his telegraph and a business model for making it work.

Some big numbers on this beast of a villa! 30,000 sq ft, 3 years of design and construction, 10m high entrance, 17m high triple storey staircase with three cantilevered staircases, 8 bathrooms, 6 bedrooms, 3 living rooms and 2 kitchens. Mojo was engaged by the client to carry out Interior Design and Interior Architecture. The brief was an understated 5 star hotel with modern classic interiors. For the interior architecture, we decided to infuse the arch with a modern interpretation of classic timber wall panelling, hence the groove detailing on walls and ceilings.

The project comprised the design of a French candle shop called Trudon in the Avenues Mall, Kuwait for our client Action Real Estate. Trudon is the oldest, still operating Candlemaker in the world and was founded in 1643.

A very difficult triangular shaped unit, Mojo provided a full interior design and architecture service up to tender stage, whilst liaising with the both franchisee in Kuwait and franchisor in France

OANJO - AN EXQUISITE CULINARY EXPERIENCE BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH, EAST AND WEST.

In 1543 Portuguese were the first Europeans to reach to Japan and successfully established trading between two countries.

Portuguese merchants brought tin, lead, gold, silk, and wool and cotton textiles, among other goods, to Japan, which exported swords, lacquerware, silk, and silver.

The most famous trade is peixinhos da horta – a dish of battered and fried green beans, along with the technique of deep frying in oil. It was presented to Japan in the 16th century and is a world-known technique called “Tempura”

Many Japanese words have Portuguese origin, one of them is Anjo. Till today, kept the same meaning in Japan and Portugal, with translation “Angel”.

OAnjo (The Angel) is a Japanese Portugese restaurant, with breathtaking views over the city skyline, Located on the 24th floor of the Sheraton Hotel, Mall of the Emirates.

Tomahawk is a modern, upscale brand of fast casual American restaurants, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We were engaged for interior design, architecture and branding to convert an old showroom in the Al Suweidi district of Riyadh, for the client’s third outlet.

The industrial space had a massive 11 metre height with a partial mezzanine floor. To create interest and movement within the building, we introduced several more floor levels at different heights, together with a bridge linking the interior to the exterior dining areas.

The property footprint was narrow and only had the main facade for daylight, resulting in a dark area at the back. We solved this problem by opening the side elevation, adding daylight via glass bricks and structural steel that tied into the structure for the new floor levels.

We maximised the use of the external spaces and created a sense of discovery and mystery through partial steel facades at the front and set back. Entry to the property is at a higher level than the main floor level and delivers an uplifting feeling upon arrival.

Our branding process advised a subtle Native American approach together with a simple industrial interior to sit well in the market segment and appeal to the local demographic.

Following the successful design of the project, the client retained our services to redesign their older two outlets.
