Milan spoke. Here's what's coming to interiors in 2026.

Every year, Salone del Mobile sets the direction for the design world — and 2026 was no exception. After walking the fair, three movements stood out. Not because they were the loudest, but because they showed up everywhere.

1. Soft Curves

Sharp edges are out. Rounded, enveloping silhouettes dominated the fair — modular sofas, organic-shaped tables, conversation-pit-inspired seating. The message? Furniture should hold you, not just look good. Standouts from Ethimo, Baxter, Piet Boon, and Cassina.

The common thread? Design in 2026 is about sensory experience. Touch a lacquered surface. Feel the weight of textured glass. Sink into a sofa that wraps around you. The best interiors aren't just beautiful to look at — they're beautiful to be in.

2. Lacquer Is Back

Forget the cold, black-and-white gloss of the '80s. Lacquer 2.0 is warmer, richer, and showing up in unexpected places — from table tops to sofa backs. The new palette? Think olive, mint, warm brown, and muted neutrals. Brands like Tacchini, Laurameroni, and Visionnaire led the charge.

3. Textured Glass

Glass is no longer about transparency — it's about texture, colour, and tactility. Body-tinted finishes, crackled surfaces, amethyst fused glass… pieces that catch light differently with every angle. Sovet, Gallotti & Radice, and Glas Italia pushed the material to its creative limits.
