If your AC isn’t cooling in Dubai, the problem is often *you* (not the AC). ☀️
I know that sounds harsh.
But I’ve watched people crank the thermostat down to 18°C…
…while the system is basically trying to breathe through a pillow.
Your AC bill goes up.
Your room stays hot.
And you assume the unit is “weak.”
Most of the time, it’s one of these 5 mistakes:
**1) Dirty filters**
If the filter is clogged, airflow drops.
Less airflow = less cooling (and more electricity).
**2) Blocked vents / bad airflow**
Sofa pushed against a return vent.
Curtains covering the supply vent.
The room *feels* like the AC is broken, but the air simply can’t circulate.
**3) Low refrigerant (gas)**
This isn’t a “top-up every summer” situation.
If refrigerant is low, there’s usually a leak—and performance falls off fast.
**4) Wrong thermostat settings**
I’ve walked into homes where the thermostat was set to “Fan ON” (not Auto).
Result: it keeps blowing humid air even when the compressor isn’t actively cooling.
**5) The unit is just old**
After years of UAE summer load, some units can’t hit target temps anymore.
They run longer, cost more, and still don’t get you comfortable.
A quick micro-story:
Last July, a friend complained their bedroom was “never cold.”
We pulled one filter out and it was grey like a carpet. Ten minutes later, the room felt different.
If you want quick wins 🧰:
- **Check filters today** (hold it up to light; if you can’t see through it, clean/replace)
- **Clear vents/returns** (give them 30–50cm breathing space)
- **Set to COOL + Fan AUTO** (and close doors to the space you’re cooling)
- **If air is weak or not cold after 20 minutes**, call a tech to check refrigerant + leaks
Which of the 5 do you suspect is happening in your place right now?
