Did you know the first jack-o’-lanterns weren’t pumpkins?

In Ireland and Scotland, people traditionally carved frightening faces into turnips and placed a light inside. When the tradition travelled to North America, pumpkins became the new favourite — bigger, softer and much easier to carve.

Halloween itself has centuries of history. Many of its traditions are connected to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain and later All Hallows’ Eve. Today, 31 October is celebrated with costumes, lanterns, pumpkins and plenty of spooky imagination.

And with Halloween, we’re starting something new: our **Festive Calendar**.

After dark, a corporate façade becomes part of the public realm.

At Gängtappen in Malmö, around 40,000 animated RGB light points transformed the office façade, while red-lit trees connected the composition to ground level.

The key question is not how many effects are possible. It is whether the lighting works for commuters, neighbours and people experiencing the building from the street.

Illuminated columns and branching structures create an architectural rhythm outside. Inside, trees, wreaths and suspended details continue the warm-white and red palette at a different scale.
