In September 2024, I was commissioned to develop a mobile space within Co-CreART - a transdisciplinary initiative bringing together art, science, and education to explore new approaches to climate, sustainability, and how we live together.

The brief was to design a flexible and inclusive structure, designed to host workshops, discussions, and collaborative formats across different contexts.

The challenge was to translate a wide range of needs and expectations into a coherent spatial concept.

This post shows the starting point: the first concept I developed for the project.

The exterior of HOUSE G is defined by its materials and layered construction. The timber-framed structure is wrapped in straw bales and finished outside with breathable NHL5 lime plaster.

In front, a timber facade adds depth and rhythm, following the structural lines behind it. Railings and optional sun shading are fixed to the vertical timber structure, while horizontal steel louvres support the facade system—creating a facade that feels natural, functional, and carefully crafted.

Set in the hills of Obersalzberg near Bad Dürrnberg, HOUSE G transforms a traditional single-family home into a sustainable multi-generational residence.

The project extends the original masonry structure with two new timber-framed floors, insulated with straw bales and finished in clay and lime plaster. It blends modern ideas of making the home fit growing family needs, community living, and natural building with the surrounding Alpine landscape. The result is a strong connection between architecture, nature, and regional identity.

Carazas Test, June 2025,

During the Lehmbau (earth construction) course at .fhsalzburg , students performed the Carazas Test—a simple and effective method to assess the quality and stability of soil and determine if it has the right properties for use as a building material. This test also provides an initial insight into the possible applications and building techniques suited to a specific earth mix.
