Starting with a plain blank wall and watching it transform is always my favorite part of painting. 🌿 Hand-painted these friendly little guys to give my 6-year-old his very own colorful space to grow and dream.

I wanted to paint my children‘s rooms since the day we moved in but it took me only ten months to get motivated enough to do it. Time estimation is not my strong point. To be fair, painting walls are a lot of fun, not so much the time consuming and strenuous part of coloring the walls (background). My blistered hands need some recovering time 😅

Anyone else looking to get a custom wall hand-painted?

Day 1 of the kids room makeover marathon is complete. My hands may be completely numb, but room #1 is officially done! Two more rooms to go this week... wish me luck 🤗

This deer theme has been quietly following me around lately. Just recently, I was on a call with a friend in the US discussing his book cover design featuring a deer I’ve painted last year from Psalm 42. Then last Saturday, I led a painting workshop on Psalm 42 (that’s why we still have the deer drawn on our window)—a psalm of deep longing, pain, and yet so much hope.

Fast forward to this week: I received some heavy news at the doctor regarding my recovery from surgery. My heart was so heavy on the drive home - until “Goodness of God” came on, breaking through the weight of my thoughts.

And then I arrived home to find these two, resting peacefully right in my garden. Deer are usually so skittish, but they stayed so still, without a single trace of fear.

Sometimes God doesn’t shout; He speaks through a recurring thread, a song, and a quiet pause in nature. It felt like a gentle, living reminder straight from Psalm 42: Do not be afraid. I am your salvation and your God. 🌿

My heart is full after our last workshop on Psalm 42. So much quiet creativity, beautiful paintings, and the kind of cozy fellowship that stays with you.

Psalm 42 is a psalm of real, raw emotion and deep hope - a text that sits close to my heart. Painting it together and seeing how deeply the passage touched people is such a blessing.

I also loved watching beginners build confidence with step-by-step guidance right next to more experienced painters taking their own approach. That mix of perspectives is so special.

This was the first of many gatherings!
If you are in eastern Austria and feel drawn to be part of the next workshop, please reach out!
I’d love to welcome you.

Remember the live worship painting based on Isaiah 40:31, where the kids started the piece and I finished it?

A couple asked for a version of their own (since the first one was sold* in minutes), and right before commissioning it, the wife mentioned her husband fell in love with art in that very moment while watching it come to life. There is truly no sweeter feedback.

My summer was so packed that I ended up painting this at 6:00 AM on a Monday, just hours before heading back home on a 15h drive from Romania. As a night owl who is definitely not a morning person, waking up at that hour usually hurts - but moments like this bring so much joy that you don’t even mind the early alarm.

80x80cm, acrylic painting on canvas

And as it turned out, the eagle theme kept showing up everywhere in the weeks that followed. (And yes, I love eagles! I could talk about them for hours, but I’ll spare you... for now!)

*The full amount was donated directly to support the wonderful work of JUBILATE

Art takes time. Real time.

It never fits neatly into a one-hour workshop window (not even five), no matter how hard we try to stretch the clock. That was obvious this summer. One of my students left class with an unfinished canvas, took it home, and kept working anyway.

And that makes me proud.

Most people just pack up when the timer ends. They move on to the next thing. But she took the canvas home instead and spent her own time finishing the details without any rush. No pressure. Just steady progress on her own terms.

Look at the result. Absolutely beautiful work.

Teaching is about starting the spark. But watching someone keep painting at home and experience that SELAH moment on their own? That is the best part.

Imagine a wilderness so fierce that a deer—built for endurance—collapses into a cracked, bone-dry riverbed. Exhausted. Desperate. Gasping for just a single drop of water to hold onto life.

That is the raw, unvarnished imagery David used to describe his spiritual state. He wasn’t just „kind of hoping“ for God; he was dying without Him. When the dry seasons of life drain us to our very core, may our desperation drive us to the only Source that can truly satisfy.

„As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul longs for you, my God.“ — Psalm 42:1
