nu.tu Bespoke furniture I try not to think too much but rather keep my eyes open to the world and sure enough ideas pop up.

This has been my creative approach for the past twenty years and most often ideas come to me when I work my usual carpenter‘s job. When I see a piece of furniture, I know that there is more to it than meets the eye. You might say, I design spontaneously in my head to break away from the creative boundaries of my everyday work. This starting point is, however, essential to me, because I cannot just

stand in front of a monitor and design something flat. What I enjoy most is hand-crafting; this is the process, which starts from an image in your head and leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction, when at the end you see your efforts take shape and substance. Indeed sometimes it will not even go through the computer; rather a flimsy inspiration will send me at once working on a piece of wood or furniture…

Building more than furniture.

Last week, our workshop turned into a place of discovery, sawdust, and big ideas — as a group of kids built their very own kiri chairs.

Together we sketched, measured, drilled, and assembled. And while every piece fit into place, something more valuable grew:
✨ Respect for handwork
✨ Curiosity for design
✨ Pride in making something real

We believe teaching children to value a simple piece of furniture is also about teaching them to value care, process, and collaboration.

Let’s keep building that...
