A longstanding friend of LOBMEYR, the multidisciplinary maestro Luca Guadagnino designed their third installation for , imagining a rich, decorative universe alongside architect Andrea Bonatti.

Upholstered in Dedar moiré, Guadagnino presented a new cut glass mirror for the Viennese crystal house alongside a new curation of their archive and Guglielmo Ulrich parchment furniture from his personal collection.

For “Vienna Bites”, the culinary theme presented by the Wien | Vienna Tourism Board this year, LOBMEYR invited six personalities to each stage their vision of contemporary dining culture. The resulting creative arrangements have been on view at LOBMEYR, Kärntner Straße 26, as part of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK through October 10.

A chef at , Lukas Mraz is used to his guests having to make do without him much of the time. This is also a reason he loves tabletop grills: “You can fill the table to the brim with all kinds of lavish delicacies, cook, eat, drink, and talk together. Basically, it’s raclette, but kicked up a notch—and above all, it’s a way of having dinner that finally lets the host stay seated.”

When the table is set with care, a meal becomes an occasion. Familiar dishes, special glasses, and objects with a history welcome the guests, sparking joy and creating a distinctive setting for enjoying time together. What the Dutch still-life painters knew so well to appreciate—the beauty of an artfully arranged table—is something we, too, want to celebrate, along with a special form of human warmth that accompanies us through every stage of life: the joy of extending hospitality.

Wunder-Bar, Kleines Café, Salzamt: Hermann Czech has designed some of Vienna’s most iconic interiors. The Viennese architect and theorist knows when new ideas are called for—and when something is already perfect as it is. The furniture in this ensemble are all Czech designs from the old MAK restaurant. The table setting, by contrast, is part of a Viennese dining culture that has evolved over a long period of time and become so familiar to us that we hardly perceive it as design at all.

For "Vienna Bites"—this year’s culinary focus from the Vienna Tourist Board—LOBMEYR invited six personalities to each set a table. We warmly invite you to join us for cocktails on Friday, October 2, starting at 6 p.m.!

When the bread roll meets the zebra: Laura Karasinski whisks us away into a magical world. The designer is renowned for interiors that playfully bring the richness of historic domestic styles into the present day. Her "Tutti Frutti" table setting is also a colorful mix—combining vintage pieces from her own collection with historic tableware classics from the Lobmeyr shop. Here’s to a magical evening!

When a table is lovingly set, the meal becomes a special occasion. Familiar tableware, distinctive glassware, and objects with a story to tell welcome guests, build anticipation, and provide a unique setting for coming together. We wish to celebrate the beauty of a table arrangement—something Dutch still-life painters appreciated long ago—and, in doing so, honor a form of friendship that accompanies us through every stage of life: hospitality.

Design curator Alice Stori Liechtenstein ( for Design) highlights the historic relationship between two materials: arranging a diverse array of antique and contemporary glassware on a bed of straw to create a "temporary landscape," she invites guests to choose a piece—setting aside standard rules of etiquette. For centuries, straw and hay were used to protect glass during transport.

For the Dojo Comp, my Kaizen Cocktail was a Toki Highball. The soda was refined with coconut water and jasmine tea, served in the finest glassware from LOBMEYR.
The round shapes worked harmoniously together, with hojicha tea cookies adding a fairly bitter note as a palate cleanser. I was inspired by the Japanese tea ceremony.
