There’s a lot more going on in a designer’s mind than simply picking materials that look good together!

When putting together a material board, we’re constantly thinking about colour, texture, contrast, balance and how each finish works with the next.

How will the materials interact with natural light? Do the textures complement each other? Is there enough contrast? Will the selections work for the way the space is used?

And sometimes, it’s about swapping things around, stepping back and seeing what feels right.

Every material has a purpose, and the magic is in bringing them all together to tell one cohesive design story 🧡

A fantastic few days in Sydney attending the KBDi & ACFA Conference, filled with learning, inspiration and connection.

We were fortunate to hear from an incredible lineup of speakers, including Dana Tomic Hughes on inspirational design, Andrew Seaton on the evolving world of AI and law, and Daniel Jameson, whose insights into dementia design were both thought-provoking and impactful.

Beyond the conference, we enjoyed a visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to take in the Archibald Prize exhibition, followed by lunch in the beautiful Botanical Gardens. The perfect balance of education, creativity and a little time to recharge.

A big thank you to the organisers, sponsors and everyone who helped make the event such a success!

And a huge congratulations to all the finalists and winners!! The calibre of work on display was exceptional, and the projects provided endless inspiration for what our industry can achieve. 🧡

FLAT LAY FRIDAY!

This material palette for a Kitchen, Pantry and Entry scheme is bringing coastal lux vibes! Loving this combination of blues/greens, brushed bronze hardware and warm crackle-glazed tiles. That Naica marble with its bronze veining is going to be the perfect hero moment against the seed and moss grey joinery.
