With breeding season starting this week we want to let everyone know we will not being doing anymore OPU pick up days until End of January 2027. We are now focused fulling on our mares and stallions we have on farm and creating babies and shipping semen.

Our last OPU /ICSI results have come in today and what fantastic results we have had. 7 mares had OPU done on the 25th August with a result of 30 embryos created. We are beyond happy with our results for our clients and we can’t wait to be back joined by the Evogene team in January.

𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤: 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐭𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐚 (𝐄𝐉𝐒𝐂𝐀)

Equine Juvenile Spinocerebellar Ataxia (EJSCA) is a newly discovered fatal neurologic disease in American Quarter Horses. This disease starts with the deterioration of axons (structures that connect neurons so they can communicate via electrical pulses). Once axons begin to degrade in the spinal cord, neurons have difficulty communicating, so affected foals have trouble controlling their limbs.

Clinical signs may include:
▪️Asymmetric Ataxia
▪️Hind limb coordination deteriorating faster than the front limbs
▪️A "sideways waking" gait with no history of trauma

Testing for EJSCA is currently only available through UC Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory, and affected foals will test as JSA/JSA. Testing your breeding stock is essential for any breeding program, especially since this disease is relatively new and not on standard genetic testing panels.
