Homework battles getting a little too familiar
Sometimes the constant:
“Have you done your homework?”
“Did you start yet?”
“When are you going to do it?”
can turn homework into a battle of reminders.
Try changing the conversation.
Instead of checking whether it’s done, help your child work out how to get started.
Ask:
What needs to be done?
What feels hardest?
What’s your first step?
These simple questions shift the conversation from pressure → problem-solving.
And remember — the goal isn't to do the homework for them.
It's to help them develop the skills to eventually manage it independently.
Save this for your next homework battle!
