Plant Care Tips

🌿 Bright, indirect light
They love a bright spot indoors but avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
💧 Don't overwater
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry before watering again. Zygo Cactus enjoy moisture but dislike sitting in soggy soil.

🌡️ Keep them cool
A cooler position, especially during autumn, helps encourage flower buds to form.

🌸 Don't move them once buds appear
Zygos can be a little dramatic! Moving them, changing light conditions, or sudden temperature changes can cause buds to drop before they open.

🪴 Feed after flowering
Once flowering finishes, a light application of indoor plant fertiliser will help support healthy growth and future blooms.

✂️ Prune after flowering
Pinching off a few segments after flowering encourages a fuller, bushier plant.

One of the best things about Zygo Cactus is that with a little care, they can become treasured plants that flower year after year.

🪴 Unpopular opinion 🪴

Most people aren't plant killers. They're plant over-carers.

💦Too much water.
😍Too much fussing.
🪴Too much moving plants around.
🤭Too much panic when a leaf turns yellow.

Many indoor plants benefit from being left alone than constantly "helped."

Sometimes the best plant care advice is to stop trying too hard and let the plant be a plant. 🌿

What a wonderful morning we had yesterday at Ocean Serenity Wellness's Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event. 💙💛

The weather was gorgeous, 🌞 the location was beautiful 🌊 and the people were lovely. ❤️

There were lots of great prizes in the raffle. The whale 🐳 and fish 🐟 planter donations were well received by the 2 ladies who won them and I also donated 10% of sales on the day to this great cause (cancer research).

Thanks to Vicky from Ocean Serenity Wellness for putting on the event and choosing Perth Plantspiration to take part. 🪴🌿💚

🌸 Zygo Cactus Care: How to Keep Those Blooms Coming! 🌸

I'm bringing these gorgeous Zygo Cactus plants today to the Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event at Ocean Serenity Wellness in Quinns Rocks and they are looking fabulous! 😍

If you've ever wondered why your Zygo blooms beautifully one year and refuses the next, here are a few simple tips:

Hard decisions were made today of what stock I'm bringing to tomorrow's Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event starting at 10.30am at Ocean Serenity Wellness, 214 Ocean Drive, Quinns Rocks (check out the stunning views). 🌊

10% of all sales will be donated to the fundraising for Cancer Research. 💰

There are some lovely raffle prizes to be won. Tickets are just $5, with all proceeds going to the fundraising.

Just got a little excited yesterday with the colourful Winter Cactus plants (Schlumbergera) and a new variation on the Philo Birkin. 🤍🌿

Some plants to sell in pots, some to go into our planters ready for tomorrow's event. ☕️💙💛

This metro nursery is 40 minutes drive each way, but stocks the smaller plants I need for my planters.

Having just received a delivery of new planters, I needed some plants to fill.

Look at the beautiful colours of the Zygo cactus. 😍 I will be doing a post soon featuring these in our pots and planters, including full care tip guide.
