If I was to title this one I think ‘The Web of Indra’ is appropriate. This is a famous Buddhist concept of a cosmic web where every part reflects the whole!

This is the painting I worked on during the recent workshop. It is always good practice to walk away from your painting for a day and have a fresh set of eyes. A few highlights in the moon and little accents in the trees were added along with another background wash to blend the scene together. She was quite nice with just an orange skyline but with fresh eyes the next day she was suggesting a bush fire to me so we now have flames and embers flying through the air. She will need a gloss coat to make that fire sparkle and then she will be done.

Wish me luck. I have entered the Bundaberg Art Prize with my painting ‘Eternal Bond’. I mostly enter because it is a thrill to have your work displayed with other artist and it helps support the art community. The gallery is open to the general public with free entry.

Date: Saturday 29th August to Sunday 6th September

Cost: Free

Address: Main Pavilion, Bundaberg Recreational Precinct located on University Drive, Branyan QLD (opposite the airport).

What a beautiful 2½ days of painting with some truly wonderful women! 🎨💗
There were plenty of laughs, new friendships, creative inspiration and, of course, lots of painting. Everyone took their pieces home to add those final finishing touches, but I think we can all agree that the ladies did an outstanding job!

Over the two-plus days, we explored working with stencils, learnt how to create our own stencils and stamps, practised layering and wash techniques, and applied negative painting skills to bring our pieces to life.

I, for one, had such a lovely time painting alongside these like-minded women. It was wonderful to share creativity, encouragement and plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you, ladies, for making it such a special workshop. I’m already looking forward to holding another one! 💕🎨
