“Can I have it for Christmas 🎄?”

That question has popped up a couple of times this week (& it’s only Tuesday!). The answer at the moment is “Yes!” BUT, we need to start the conversation now.

We’re in the final throws of the year. And if the last 8 months are anything to go by, the final 3 (we don’t include December as it’s heads down, bums up, getting stuff done month) will be gone in a flash! We need to start the process now. If you’re thinking of being ready before the man in the red suit comes to town, now is the time to start doing, so that we can say “Yes” to Christmas for you too!

A gentle reminder of an achievement we were incredibly proud of this time last year. 🏆

Behind every achievement is a team — the people who continue to travel the journey with you, who show up every day, work tirelessly and share the determination to be the best in their field.

To all the finalists in tonight’s Bendigo Business Community Business Excellence Awards, enjoy it.

Tonight is a time to celebrate, reflect and acknowledge the journey that has brought you here — the hard work, determination and dedication it takes to build something you can be proud of.

Most importantly, take a moment to celebrate your people. The people who have come with you, believed in you and trusted you along the way.

Bendigo is incredibly fortunate to have such a diverse and passionate business community, and making it to tonight’s main event is an achievement in itself. It is a credit to every finalist and the people behind them.

So, good luck, relax and enjoy the moment.

Tomorrow, it’s back to business. But don’t forget to pause and acknowledge just how far you’ve come.

Because moments like tonight matter. They give us that little boost of confidence, pride and perspective that, as small business owners, we sometimes need.

The best time to think about your window furnishings is at the very beginning.

The decisions you make during the design and frame stages will make all the difference to the finished result.

Here’s why:

1. Design.
Want that seamless, hotel-style look? Ceiling recesses need to be planned into your drawings. Once construction is underway, it’s often too late.

2. Motorisation
Planning automated blinds or curtains? Electrical wiring is far easier (and far more cost-effective) before the plaster goes on.

3. Structural support
Our tracks need something solid to fix to. Extra timber installed either on the walls or in the ceiling during frame stage, makes installation straightforward, especially over large stacker doors where steel beams don’t always make our lives easy!

4. Budget!
Window furnishings are the final pieces of a build, but they shouldn’t be an afterthought. Having an idea of the investment early helps you plan your overall budget rather than having sheets on the windows when you move in.

The homes that function beautifully aren’t built by accident. They’re built through good planning and the right conversations at the right time.
