🌱 EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – 800L ACTIVELY AERATED WORM TEA TRIALS 🌱

Riverland Backyard Worms is looking for growers interested in trialling our freshly brewed 800L worm tea for $600.

Our worm tea is made by actively aerating water with quality worm castings to encourage beneficial microbial activity. The aim is to deliver a living biological brew that can help support soil microbial activity, nutrient cycling and overall soil health.

🌱 NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT – THE RIVERLAND BACKYARD WORMS “WORM HALO” 🌱

After plenty of planning and experimenting, we’ve now installed our first Worm Halo trial! 🪱🌳

The idea is simple: our worm castings are packed into hessian bags and positioned around the tree, with the existing irrigation running over the top. Each time the tree is watered, moisture passes through the castings and gradually carries nutrients, organic matter and biology into the soil around the root zone.

The hessian is biodegradable, helps keep the castings contained and allows us to create different-sized Halos depending on the tree, irrigation layout and number of castings bags required.

We’re hoping the Worm Halo can offer growers a practical way to: 🌱 Improve soil biology around the root zone
🌱 Slowly introduce worm castings during regular irrigation
🌱 Increase organic matter where it’s needed
🌱 Reduce the labour involved in repeatedly applying castings
🌱 Make better use of existing drip irrigation systems

This is still a trial product, and we’ll be monitoring the trees and soil over the coming months so we can share the results as we go.

🌸 RIVERLAND ALMOND GROWERS WANTED 🌰

Spring is a crucial period for almond orchards. As trees move through flowering, petal fall and early nut development, their demand for water and nutrients increases.

Riverland Backyard Worms is looking for a small number of local almond growers interested in trialling our worm juice as a soil-applied supplement alongside their existing nutrition program.

🪱 THE ONE-HECTARE ALMOND TRIAL

✅ 15 litres of worm juice for a one-hectare trial area
✅ Applied through irrigation or directly to the soil
✅ Treated rows compared with untreated control rows
✅ Progress monitored during the growing season
✅ Founding grower trial price: $45

We would ideally like to work with established, producing orchards that have a separately controlled irrigation section and are willing to help monitor indicators such as:

🌱 Root-zone conditions
🌱 Soil moisture and electrical conductivity
🌱 Spring growth and leaf condition
🌱 Nut retention and development
🌱 Kernel size and yield at harvest

Our worm juice contains naturally occurring nutrients produced through our vermiwash process. This trial is designed to gather genuine Riverland orchard data—it is not being promoted as a replacement for your normal fertiliser program or as a guaranteed yield increase.

Because almonds can be sensitive to salinity, the trial batch and application method will be reviewed before use. Initial applications will be diluted and soil-applied only.
