The Beginning
Basford Brands began its business life trading as Filigree Textiles and was once owned by the British Basford Group, established in 1967. The Basford Textile Group Limited was formed by the merger of four long-established family companies. Ltd.; Newmilns From Nottingham; Holmes & Baxter Limited, and J.B Walker & Co Ltd. This was one of the largest mergers in the history of the lace industry. Together they shared over two hundred years of lace-making experience, concentrated in the home furnishings market. Filigree Textiles was the dream of one of the Basford Group’s members, Mr Austin Baxter. He carefully selected a site in Geelong, Victoria and arranged for a purpose built factory to be constructed during the late 1980’s. The company was officially opened in April 1990 by the then Victorian Premier, Mr John Cain. The firm was originally known as makers and distributors of quality lace and sheers aimed at the Australian, New Zealand, South Pacific and Southeast Asian markets. Filigree became 100% Australian owned after a buyout in 1995. The company continued to build and grow and in 2008, after purchasing several other home decor related brands, Filigree began trading under the Basford Brands group banner. In the middle of 2010 Basford Brands relocated to its current premises in Breakwater, Geelong, allowing immediate expansion and further room to grow. The new location is approximately double the size of the previous 50,000 square feet site. The Future
Basford Brands will continue to develop its existing brand base, by offering effective on trend solutions for its customers. Basford Brands is always on the lookout for complementary businesses, brands and products to add to its portfolio to take advantage of its growth strategy.

Our latest design journey started with a vision of lush island foliage and finished with a heavy, tactile chenille that delivers a premium, luxury feel. The Hawaiian Collection brings a relaxed, tropical vibe to your interior through the layered leaf motifs of Mahalo and its coordinating organic stripe, Ohana, offering two distinct textures that work well on their own or cohesively. It features a relaxed, organic aesthetic but works like a commercial heavyweight, providing a flawless, seamless hang at 295cm continuous. Fully AS/NZS 1530 fire rated, OEKO-TEX certified, and 100% polyester, it is built for premium drapery and cushions. DM us to secure waterfall hangers or sample cuttings for your next moodboard.

We’re super excited to have Four Families - Bond named as a finalist for the WSSA Product Sustainability Award.

The development of Bond reflects an advancement in the manufacturing process, focused on improving sustainability outcomes and reducing energy intensity. By eliminating the traditional acrylic foam coating, the process delivers a 75% reduction in chemical usage, along with savings of up to 80% in gas, electricity, and water.

The result is a cleaner, low-VOC blockout fabric with durability improved by up to 65% on the window. Recognition as a finalist highlights how progress in production methods can reduce environmental impact while delivering a higher-performing end product.

A room feels more established when the materials have some actual substance to them. Mahalo is a jacquard chenille that uses its texture to create a sense of depth and quality without being loud. Using it alongside the Ohana stripe creates a balance that makes a space feel like it was always meant to look that way. It is a simple way to get a professional result that feels intentional and settled.

We have updated the Bancoora collection and it is really all about making the choice easier for everyone. We worked with industry partners to make sure these new colors actually match the most popular paint tones people are using in their homes right now, taking the guesswork out. Also for anyone dealing with those strict body corporate rules we have the new dual sided fabrics in Dual and Black and White. Meaning you get the look you want inside without any trouble from the building requirements. It is just dependable fabric that comes in 4 different widths and looks great. Check with your local blind specialist to see the new Bancoora range in person.

We love seeing our retailers make Laura Ashley their own. This beautiful display from Guthrie Bowron Warkworth pairs our fabric samples with the Laura Ashley wallpaper collection. When a store truly embraces a brand, it shows. Great work Guthrie Bowron.
