I can't say I've seen any outstanding sign work so far in Vancouver. The signs on the horse buggy is actually a digital print, all they've photographed the handwritten work from who knows when and had it printed. At least it keeps the original look.
I hate the way they've done the design on the Police car, when you see them driving down there road you just can't read it, maybe the designer was colourblind

I had these dropped off for repair/restoration. Australian sign history being preserved is how I see it.
You can see the paper waterslide method was used for the Minchinbury sign, it's not a method I had ever seen until a visit to the trade school at Ultimo in Sydney many years ago. As far as I know it was never taught in Victoria or any of these other states.

I just put the finishing touches on this historic sign, Bulimba was a Queensland beer brand. The collector wanted me to scrape out the motley green and redo it. Not as easy as you might think, the back was painted with a brown enamel that chipped on the edges. I got there in the end.
