This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m hosting a Pink Bloom Party to raise funds for life-saving breast cancer research. 💗

I’m doing this to support the 56 people diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Australia.

I would love your support to help me reach my $3000 fundraising goal to help save lives.

Every donation plants a flower in my fundraising garden and helps grow hope for a future where no more lives are cut short by breast cancer. 🌸

We will be showcasing original artworks and handmade items for sale from our artisans Restored Creative Living Hugo The Yarni Shop Bloom & Blend co Jessica Ware with proceeds from selected items being donated to the charity.

Donations to our fundraising garden will allow you to enjoy some delicious nibbles and beverages, and enters you into our draw to win a gift basket filled with items from our artisans here at the studio, and some incredible goodie bags donated by Sandra from Sandra Tainsh 🌺

Decoupage Flower Pots is a hands on workshop where you’ll learn decoupage techniques to decorate two terracotta pots ~ layering papers, and creating something uniquely yours to take home and fill with something you love.

No experience needed ~ just a willingness to try something new and enjoy the process.

Sometimes the best making happens far from the studio. 🌿

While I was away in August I kept my hands busy doing what they love most ~ making something handmade and meaningful for people I love.

Two fabric name banners for two of my grandchildren’s rooms ~ each letter cut from a different fabric, stitched and stuffed with care. Simple in concept, slow in the making, and made entirely with love.

This is why I believe so deeply in the power of handmade. Not because it’s perfect ~ but because it carries something no bought gift ever quite can. 🌿

Seven people walked in last Friday not quite sure what they were about to make. 🌿

Two hours later they walked out holding something completely and entirely their own ~ layered, textured, marked with their own hand. Not one piece the same. All of them beautiful.

This is what I love most about Little Layers ~ watching people discover that they are so much more creative than they ever gave themselves credit for.

‘What if beginning was enough’ 🌿

Not finishing perfectly. Not knowing exactly what you’re doing. Not having all the right supplies or all the right skills.

Just ~ beginning.

There is a quiet kind of courage in picking up a needle for the first time, opening a fresh journal page, squeezing paint onto a palette when you’re not quite sure what comes next.

I believe that courage deserves to be celebrated. And I believe that the simple act of beginning something new is one of the bravest and most beautiful things you can do.

So whatever it is that has been waiting ~ the project you keep putting off, the class you’ve been thinking about, the creative part of yourself that keeps whispering not yet…

One tiny stitch at a time. 🌿

There is something deeply meditative about this kind of work ~ the rhythm of the needle, the slow building of something from almost nothing, the way a thousand tiny stitches become something you couldn’t quite imagine when you began.

I have been lost in this lately and honestly ~ it’s exactly the kind of making I needed to come home to.

Can I be honest with you for a moment? 🌿

This is one of my favourite workshops to teach ~ and I really want to share it with more people this month.

Little Layers: Mixed Media Collage is a beautiful two hour session where we work with vintage papers, scrapbook textures, watercolour pencils, stamps and mark making to create two unique abstract mixed media pieces. You take both home ~ one ready to frame and hang.

It is the kind of workshop that surprises people. You sit down thinking I’m not sure I can do this and two hours later you are holding something genuinely beautiful that is completely and entirely your own.

“Show how love and joy, beauty and goodness shine out amongst the rubble.”

This stopped me in my tracks this week.

I have been reading the most wonderful book ~ How Beauty Will Save the World by Winfield Bevins ~ and this line feels like it holds everything I believe about why we create, why we gather, and why beauty in the everyday matters so deeply.

Making something with your hands is an act of hope.
