This monumental Murano chandelier is a summery mid-century modern dream. The piece is made up of four tiers of individual “palmettes” or little palm leaves with an amber crushed glass effect reminiscent of the glassware by Barovier & Toso. If you’d like to view it in person, you can visit us at our Albion location.

We recently acquired this magnificent Italian majolica plate dating to the 19th century from a Queensland collector, and are in awe of its size. Any suggestions on who the goddess is in the central medallion is warmly welcomed! Now we just have to find a lens wide enough to take website shots!

If you’ve been to our Tattersall’s Arcade location you would have probably seen the very large selection of Sabino ‘opalescent’ glass we have on display in our Louis Marjorelle cabinet. Sabino glass is all French in origin and is named after its founder Marius Ernest Sabino (1878-1961) who worked in Paris during the early 20th Century. Known for his small ‘figures’ such as butterflies, fish, birds and insects, his work is often confused for Lalique however is almost always signed to the underside ‘Sabino’. If you’re after a lovely, antique and relatively inexpensive gift for someone by all means come and browse our range in the Tattersall’s Arcade.

Louis XVI was the last King of France prior to the French Revolution, and he with his wife Marie Antionette were seen as one of the most glamorous couples in the world at the time. Their taste and aesthetic was world class and as a result the French furniture, decorative arts and jewellery of the period was a reflection of ‘them’. This Louis XVI settee was uploaded to our website today and is a beautiful example of 18th Century French craftsmanship. Complete with carved acanthus, ribbon and floral detailing, the walnut two seater seat has been recently reupholstered and is in beautiful condition ready for placement.

Aren’t the silver handles to this set of four Chinese export ware spoons a delight. The four are all exactly the same length and feature the same makers mark leading us to believe that they were designed to be together as a set. They’re a recent upload to our website but you can always DM us any queries you may have.

The 1960s saw atomic themed jewellery become fashionable with the ‘space race’ and landing on the moon being huge inspirations for jewel designers. Aristotle Onassis even had his preferred Greek jeweller Lalaounis craft a pair of ‘moon landing’ earrings for his wife Jackie Kennedy which tells you that space was definitely on the brain! This ‘Sputnik’ ring was crafted by Brazilian designer H Stern and comprises of semiprecious stones set in 18 karat yellow gold to resemble a ‘Sputnik’. We have a matched pair of ear clips to this ring at the moment, with both the ring and clips currently on our website and 1st Dibs storefront.

There are a few faces behind The Antique Guild and we today we’d like to introduce you to the lovely Beata. We asked Beata what would you take home if you were shopping for yourself? She chose this stunning porcelain jar by Fraureuth of Germany in the 1920s.

“I love this piece because it’s in the secessionist taste: a bit of a mix between my two favourite eras, Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Secondly, every time I look at this jar it takes me back to holidays in Greece. The shape reminds me of small Greek Orthodox chapels hanging on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea which you can see in that gorgeous cobalt blue. The jar being a small piece would fit into most spaces, an easy way to add instant style and class.” - Beata

If you’d like to know more about this piece feel free to reach out in the comments or send us a DM.

This sterling silver bowl by Tiffany & Co. dates to between 1956 and 1965. It’s form is so sleek and modernist. The interesting thing about this bowl however is it is based off a design by Joseph Conyers from around 1700. We love when good design finds relevance in another time. It’s almost a form of time traveling. If you’d like to know more about this beautiful piece of design history, feel free to comment or DM.

This 9 karat gold, seed pearl, and pink tourmaline pendant is such a sweet little example of Art Nouveau jewellery. It could of course be worn on a fine gold chain but we think it would look wonderful worn on a piece of leather. If you’d like to more feel free to DM us or visit our website.

Just added to our website this morning is this super unusual set of four Russian silver ‘tea glass’ holders from the early 20th Century. My favourite part of them is their extremely Russian ‘constructivist’ text which was popular at the time, and their elongated handles which are detailed with the chamomile flower, the state flower of Russia. These are on show at our Albion location or you can view them in the silver category on our website.

These 18 karat gold ear clips and matched ring were manufactured in the 1960s by Brazilian designer H.Stern. The idea of ‘Sputnik’ jewellery arose around the time of the space race to land on the moon and the fascination with the solar system at the time. The earrings and ring are set with an array of round cut semi-precious stones such as amethysts, garnets, topaz, tourmaline and zirconias. Both the ring and earrings have been uploaded to our website and 1st Dibs storefront today with multiple images and all the important specs, but don’t hesitate to send through a DM with any further questions!

I can’t remember if we’ve shown you this little Sevres porcelain vase by Paul Milet or not, but if I have you can enjoy seeing it for a second time! Paul Milet (1870-1950) was a French ceramicist working in Sevres at the start of the 20th century. He is known for his bold and highly vibrant block colour ceramics and this little piece is a scarce little spill vase with a silver mount. The mount was made by Parisian firm A.Risler & Carre who only operated between 1897 and 1912 meaning we can date the piece and it’s manufacture to sometime within that fifteen year period. It’s a recent upload to our website but don’t feel shy as you can always DM us any queries.
