One of my favourite second hand and oddities book shop is up at Maleny Laura ! Thank you so much to Laura for sending me this Journal to help me on my Wilding Dress journey!

I’m so excited to grow my writing practise alongside my art . Most of my work revolves around repetition and what that does on studio days is that I go into a deep meditative space and write a lot in between tasks. Thank you so much to Laura from Laura for gifting me this stunning journal to hold the journey of the Wilding Dress. This project is going to see me through many seasons of life and I wonder what this journal will hold by the end of it ! I get goose bumps thinking of it . I am so grateful to have friends who believe in my art and who want to help me continue to find the magic and depth in my arts practise. 🩷🩷🩷 The Quirky Cup Collective

The thing about competitions and being judged on your artwork is that you need to understand and accept what you have control over and what you don’t. You don’t know if someone is going to bring a show stopping piece or if the judges will be swooned by another artists technique or story more than yours. Worrying that you’ll fall into the pack is the death of a concept in my opinion. You’re immediately projecting that you’ll not stand out. They say comparison is the thief of joy I also think it’s a thief of fun in art . When we live in an online world of metrics and who’s doing this and that we begin to think what we’re doing isn’t enough. We operate form a scarcity complex that there’s not enough success or accolades to go around. The reality is no one can replicate your own unique magic and whimsy and you can’t copy someone else’s. Once you truly believe you’re a one of a kind collectible who is valuable and makes significant art watch what started happen. At the end of the day judges see your work for a few hours , you spend months if not years with it. Do it for yourself regardless of the outcome. Make yourself proud and stay focussed. There will always potentially be someone better and more accomplished in the room but they are never YOU 🩷🩷 Shine bright baby you deserve it 🌟🧚

It was so fun to take out “Dear Babushka” and see her in all her glory after being packed up for a while! Thank you to Australian Wearable Art Festival Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort for having us it was a pleasure and I think “Dear Babushka” definitely brings some magic to the space. I’m not a finalist this year in the show I’m enjoying my haitus from active competitions however I’ll be there backstage meeting all of the artists and seeing all of the amazing art they have been creating and I can’t wait 🩷

It was so fun to go up and see Wendy and Helen from Australian Wearable Art Festival and install “Dear Babushka” at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort ! If you are visiting and staying for the show this year you will be greeted by “Dear Babushka” as you enter the foyer. It’s amazing to be able to continue to share her with the world and it’s been such a journey since debuting her in 2023. I’m excited to see what the finalists make this year !

I can’t believe I made this piece in 2022 where has the time gone ! It’s still my favourite to this day ! I tried so many new things and learnt so much through this piece ! It took me approximately 100 hours and it started from a vintage blanket I found at the op shop ! I’ve worn it to accept awards and to special events for years she is one of my most precious belongings. This jumper at the time was the biggest challenge I had ubdertaken and it gave me so much confidence in my skills and art ! I went on to make “Dear Babushka” one year later and won The Australian Wearable Art festival. Looking back at this jumper makes me so proud because I just took so many chances and kept making and exploring crochet.

I’m so excited to give you an update on The Wilding Dress ! It’s been a few months and life has been busy but eventually I always find my way back to art ! This project is incredibly special to me and I am so excited to take you on this journey with me !

Thank you to Deb and Belinda the incredible team behind who have given me access to the most luxurious yarns I could have only dreamed of ! Incredible yarns from and . When I started crocheting I could only afford op shop and mill end yarns and I loved being thrift with my materials. It’s so special to be able to work with such high quality yarn after all this time. Deb and Belinda have always cheered me on and when they come on board for this project I knew we were going to make a magical piece!

Happy pride month !!!! I hope wherever you are you can hug your loved ones and celebrate the beauty of being q***r and free ! I wish that for everyone and I feel so lucky to be able to live in a part of the world where I am safe to talk about this so openly ! Accepting and embracing q***rness took some time for me so if you’re not there yet , don’t give up hope ! Things do get easier over time and finding community and your q***r family takes time. I am so excited to plan this years Finding ColourPuff World 2026 photoshoot ! Bringing people into ColourPuff World brings me so much joy and I feel so incredibly lucky to have the community I do behind me bringing this all to life. This world is yours too and sharing it feels like my purpose and drives me to keep making more art 🩷🩷
