Throwback to 2014.
At the time Clearlight Designs was based in Byron Bay and we had spent more than two years researching and developing our illuminated bathroom mirrors.
After exhibiting at the Home Show we received a call from the project team working on the refurbishment of the Horizon Club at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney. They needed 87 illuminated mirrors and time was running out.
A week later we arrived in Sydney with our prototype and presented it to the architects, designers and hotel management. We left the meeting with four weeks to manufacture the remaining 86 mirrors.
Each mirror required hours of work. The frosted borders were individually masked and sandblasted, aluminium frames fabricated, LEDs installed and demister pads fitted. For four weeks we worked 18 hour days in the workshop to get the job done.
Once completed we drove the mirrors from Byron Bay to Sydney ourselves and spent three weeks installing them 35 floors above Sydney Harbour.
The best part of the story is that those mirrors are still there today, still operating, and have never required a service call.
More than a decade later they continue to light the Horizon Club bathrooms every day.
Designed to impress. Built to last.
