Maker Maker

Maker Maker is a small local yarn store in Brunswick East, Victoria. We stock a range of beautiful yarns and accessories. Emily

From simple affordable yarn for the beginner Maker, to hanks of gorgeous locally hand dyed yarns, and much more in between. We have a focus on stocking local Australian brands, and organic or ethically sourced wool where possible. Come visit us to explore and be inspired by beautiful yarns and patterns, ask questions from our helpful staff, and stay for a knit and a chat at our cozy table in the w

indow. The shop is about 30 minutes from Melbourne by tram, just catch the #1 or #6 and get off at stop 122. Our social Maker sessions are run on Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm, so bring a project and a smile on your face to come and meet some like-minded Makers! All crafts are welcome, as long as they are fairly portable. We will be running classes next year, but have Craft Clinic help sessions fortnightly on Sunday mornings. Hey guess what, we're open tomorrow! (There's a small biz exemption)

Autumn has really hit our store in the last couple of weeks, and it's been so inspiring to see all of the gorgeous projects that our customers have been starting 🥰 I think all of our new winter stock has arrived now, too, and the shop is SO FULL of yummy things 🥳

Pictured here is beautiful Ayni from , a beautiful Alpaca/Silk blend. It's delightfully fine knit up on its own, but we've swatched it held double now, and it makes an incredibly gorgeous 8ply fabric 😍

We don't have enough stock left to open the warehouse again tomorrow, so Sunday's sale is cancelled.

Good news, yarn lovers! Our friends at Woolly Yarn Co (who supply a lot of yarn to Maker Maker), are having a huge warehouse sale to say goodbye to a whole range of discontinued yarns. We're going to give them a hand to sell the stock - for one weekend only they will be opening their doors to provide you with tons of yarny bargains, and some of our staff members will be onsite to sell it!

When we say discounted, we really mean it - there will be up to 60% off RRP (recommended retail price)!

New colours in Big Bio Balance 🌈

BBB is another scrumptious trans-seasonal yarn, made of wool and cotton. It's plump, snuggly, and a goldilocks-like balance of cosy, but not too hot - perfect for the in-between months and for those who run on the warm side 🔥
We'd recommend it for 8-10ply sweaters, cardi's and scarves!

We have lots and lots and lots of scrummy new yarns coming in for this winter, and the first have begun to arrive!

Introducing Duna, a delectable mix of 60% organic cotton and 40% alpaca, making it ideal for autumn or spring garments and accessories. Duna knits up beautifully - the cotton lends a slight grip to the yarn which would make it ideal for colourwork projects.

The range has softly hued dyed colours combined with the natural shades of alpaca fleece. With 200 metres per skein, this is a great value yarn that will soon become a new favourite!

Bye bye, Babyalpaka! One of our all time favourite yarns has sadly been discontinued - boooo! It's luxe and drapey, and oh so cosy - we're so sad to see it go! We've popped it on sale - head on over to our Sale page to grab yourself a bargain.
