We offer a selection of the basic tools needed for a successful DIY wallpaper installation (you can contact us for advice)

Having the right wallpapering tools makes the installation easier, more accurate and more professional-looking.
The correct smoother and brushes help prevent bubbles and creases, while good scissors and a seam roller create cleaner edges and joins.
Using the appropriate adhesive for your wallpaper is equally important for reliable adhesion and long-lasting results.
The right tools can make the difference between a frustrating DIY job and beautifully finished walls.

Wallpaper plastic smoother – Helps gently smooth wallpaper onto the wall, pushing out air bubbles and ensuring good adhesion without damaging the surface.
Seam roller – Used to carefully press wallpaper joins together for neat, less-visible seams.
Wallpaper scissors – Essential for accurately trimming wallpaper around corners, ceilings, skirting boards and other areas.
Wallpaper smoothing brush – Helps smooth and position wallpaper, particularly useful for removing small air pockets and ensuring an even finish.
Wallpaper pasting brush – Used to spread wallpaper adhesive evenly across the back of the wallpaper.
Wallpaper adhesive – The correct adhesive is essential for securing the wallpaper and achieving a durable installation.
Lining paper – Can be used where appropriate to create a smoother, more uniform base and help improve the finished appearance.

Additional Tools needed for Wallpaper Installation (you may already have at home)
Stanley knife / utility knife / box cutter – Used for making precise cuts and trimming wallpaper around windows, doors, corners, ceilings and skirting boards. A sharp blade is essential for clean edges and preventing tearing.
Spirit level – Essential for checking that your first wallpaper drop is perfectly vertical. Starting with a straight, plumb line helps prevent the pattern from gradually drifting across the wall.
Plumb line – Creates a reliable vertical reference line, particularly useful on large walls or where the ceiling, floor or corners aren't perfectly straight.
Paint roller – Useful for applying adhesive or primer evenly to the wall when the wallpaper installation method calls for it. A roller helps provide consistent coverage across larger areas and can be quicker and more uniform than using a brush.
Paint brush – A good-quality paint brush is useful for applying wallpaper paste or adhesive to edges, corners and smaller areas where a roller may not reach. It allows for controlled, even application around detailed areas.

Peel & Stick Wallpaper Nightmare
Peel-and-stick wallpaper may look like an easy DIY solution, but handling it incorrectly can create expensive problems.
The adhesive can grab too quickly, making positioning difficult, while pulling and repositioning can stretch the wallpaper, causing joins to misalign and patterns to distort.
Even painted plaster walls aren’t always safe—removing peel-and-stick wallpaper can lift paint, damage the surface or pull away layers of plaster.
Uneven walls, dust, poor preparation and humidity can also cause bubbling, lifting and shrinking.
For a professional, long-lasting finish, properly prepared walls and professionally installed traditional wallpaper are often the safer, more reliable choice.
We will keep you posted on the final look once walls are repaired and the traditional wallpaper has been installed. Stay tuned.
