Artisans from the Caloundra Pottery group have produced some beautiful items on display in the NSM Artisan Gift Shop. The stoneware dish in the first photo has been hand formed in raku clay and glazed to reflect the organic elegance of nature. The second is also a reflection of nature's beauty. To produce the items in the last photo, the potter has used the same clay and glaze on all items and the firing of the work was done in the gas kiln under reduction hence the special and very different effect on the pieces. They could be a set or purchased as individual pieces.

Showcasing some of the work produced by the Hard Pressed Printers Group here at C**A. The first is botanical gelli printed on tissue paper collaged onto canvas. The other is Gelli printing (also called gel plate printing), a simple monoprint technique that works beautifully with natural textures like leaves. Applying the tissue print to a circular timber backing gives you a finished, ready-to-display artwork of locally gathered leaves.

Well April is here, holidays are nearly over and soon the cooler months will be upon us. Perhaps time to think about picking up the knitting needles and also where you might find a supply of yarn.
Members of the Spinners & Weavers Group here at Caloundra Arts Centre have hand spun merino wool, silk, linen and other fibers into high quality yarns which will create a luxurious, unique texture. Several skeins in jumper size lots are available in our Artisans Gallery. For more information and/or to have your purchased skeins wound into centre-pull balls, visit the S&W group. Meetings are held at the Centre every Tuesday morning.
