Part of my environmental ethos is to not send anything if I can help it, to landfill, especially textiles and art paper, and to reuse them in any means to raise awareness. Here a part of the xray of my broken hand from a fall, scraps from textiles dyed in India, pieces of quilt edge and bandages dyed in tea are applied to watercolour paper gift card. I make very large textile artworks that comment on water environments and use quilting methods to hold the layers together. ‘Feeding the aquafer’ is 1.6m high x 2m wide and was trimmed so it would hang square at exhibitions. So the trimmings don’t go to landfill I fix them to DL sized watercolour paper Greeting card OR gift card. For further information refer www.muirandmuir.com.au.
