Workshop: Botanical Printing on Fabric
If you've ever admired the beautiful detail of botanical prints and wondered how they're created, this is a rare opportunity to learn from one of Australia's most accomplished practitioners. Anne Foy is an exceptional artist whose botanical prints capture the intricate detail of leaves and plants with remarkable realism. Anne Foy is a generous with her knowledge that she's developed over many years of practice.
During this workshop you'll learn how to create stunning botanical prints on linen, and silk. Working with leaves from your own garden, you'll produce several 45 cm-wide printed panels while gaining the confidence and skills to continue creating works at home.

Learn to weave a simple object using a technique known as backstrap weaving. It is one of the oldest methods of weaving and is used across the world to this day. Backstrap weaving is highly portable and, with experience, can be used to create complex, intricate patterns.

Backstrap Band Weaving for Beginners - Learn to weave a simple object using a technique known as backstrap weaving. It is one of the oldest methods of weaving and is used across the world to this day. Backstrap weaving is highly portable and, with experience, can be used to create complex, intricate patterns.

This workshop teaches a slightly modified setup with a rigid heddle to make it an easy introduction to this weaving technique. It introduces you to plain weave, one of the fundamental weaving styles. You will create a simple but beautiful bracelet or bookmark.

Botanical Printing on Fabric with
Capture realistic imprints of botanicals on linen, cotton and silk- with or without background colour. Using leaves from your garden you will print several panels 45cm wide, learn the basics and then be able to make larger prints at home.
Learn the different properties the plants have to offer - and collaborate with nature.
Where: Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre, Matora Lane, Cremorne NSW
When: This is a Two Day Course Sat &Sun 22-23 Aug, 10am-4pm
Cost: $345 ($370 non member)

Students to bring:
-2 buckets,
-notebook and pen,
-hairdryer in case of wet weather
-PPE: dust mask, apron or wear old clothes, 2 pairs of washing up gloves, wear closed in shoes
-a ball of string, or an old T-shirt to cut into ‘string’ (I’ll show how)
-foliage from your garden/friends/flower market. A few suggestions for plant cuttings to bring include geraniums, grevillea, feijoia, rose leaves (not petals,) casuarina, nandina/heavenly bamboo, continus (smoke bush,) and of course a variety of eucalyptus. It may be too early for flowers - marigolds, cosmos, coreopsis, tansy, flannel flowers would be wonderful. Red and brown onion skins work well (keep colours separate.) Try what you have access to, and bring some to share.

Tutor will provide:
-cotton and linen panels pre-treated for use on the first day,
-fabrics for participant to mordant for use on the second day.

Tea, coffee and water are available at Primrose Park Art and Craft Centre, but we suggest you bring your own lunch/snacks, as there are no shops nearby.
