Happy Good Friday everyone!
Very early this morning I decamped to the lounge to escape a persistent noisy mosquito. I woke up to April: At war and peace with yourself, hanging on my tree mirror artwork from my first ever art exhibition in Japan when I was 25, the pot plant from AmeBel where I worked for a couple of years and our upside down Eiffel Tower. April is a month of birthdays and leads to more birthdays and mother's day in May. Hard for some... Cognitive dissonance was real for Picasso, Da Vinci, Warhol, most musicians and armed forces, and me!

And this is one is timely, but very poor resolution - From the 1994 Michael Nagy show "Recognising the Republic" "And ye shall disposses..." a comment on the Colonials who came and "dispersed" the indigenous here in Australia... As only a dual British/Austrailan Citizen could say back then when Art was supposed to be political and we had a referendum on becoming a republic and we said No, not while Lady Diana was alive and her sons were so young...

February is "Think Choose" month, inspired by a piece I sent to the Neowave group show in Seoul in 1998. The orange squares are the burnable gold foil ones used in funerals, and the copy says, "Ya can't take it with you !" - That piece was sold, so let's all make wise choices this month.x

Digging through my many, many artworks for an overseas customer, I discovered a missing box - my A3 portfolios - lots of smaller calligraphies and the 1989 portfolio of art and design work I took to London at the ripe old age of 21! Here is Mary Gilmore's poem "An Aboriginal Simile."
There was no stir among the trees,
No pulse in the earth
No movement in the void;
The grass was a dry white fire
Then in the distance rose a cloud,
And a swift rain came:
Like a woman running,
The wind in her hair.

I've been chatting to quite a few architects lately, and I'm yet to find one without another passion or a side gig. Here are a few: Boat builder, educator/tutor/professor, influencer, PechaKucha founder, child rearer, prolific potter, sustainability zealot, coach of earning more money as an architect, owner/designer/builder, property developer, furniture or stage designer, tour guide, ARTIST, and of course all the others from my Class of 86 Sydney Uni.... When we had our reunion in 2019 (photo below), we had to invite off the Year 1 list because so many of us detoured onto other pathways all around the world. Hi Everyone! Time for the 2026 40-year reunion next year, lets go!
