Makers Space Where people meet to be inspired, inspire others, unleash their creativity and make something by hand Come and play with us! We are all creative!

Makers Space and Studio on Whitleley is a creative playground - where locals and visitors meet to unleash their creativity. It is a place to create, to inspire and be inspired, to share ideas and to make something by hand. Located in Dunedoo, NSW, we offer regular workshops and events for adults and kids. You can also book a date for a private group workshop or event. Many of us don't have the confidence or believe we have the skills to create. You'll be surprised by what you can make, as our makers help you explore and cultivate your creativity, have fun, play and connect with others. Workshops include basket weaving, print making, painting, loom weaving, collage, photography, origami, waste2art - using recyled materials, sculpture using natural materials, wreath making, papier-mâché, slow stitching, resin art. Makers Space is . . .
. . a shared creative space with a small studio, workshop, and retail space.
. . where local makers exhibit their work, participate in makers events and offer creative workshops.
. . a makers collective which supports the interests and needs of local makers, in Dunedoo and the surrounding areas of Central NSW. The Makers Collective is a small group of people who come together through a desire to build and participate in a vibrant arts and cultural initiative. At Makers Space we collaborate with a variety of curators and supporters, representing and supporting makers and their craft.

Wednesday works in progress ~ two (unfinished objects) that I started weaving during the Mudgee Muster workshops over the weekend. The first will be a little bird house. It needs quite a bit more random weaving to give the tiny birds some privacy in their love nest. The second is a purely whimsical orb ~ random weave using natural fibres, which will be finished with some copper wire string lights woven through. Watch this space!

Materials

Birdhouse ~ trumpet vine, coral pea and hardenbergia cuttings, bungalow palm leaves and inflorescence
Orb ~ grape vines and bangalow palm inflorescence

Technique

Bridhouse ~ 4 x 4 stake base, twining and random weaving
Orb ~ random weave, with fibres woven until it holds it shape without fixings

Here’s a showcase of our fabulous tutors and weavers at work, during the two days of the Mudgee Muster.

We are so grateful for the expertise, skills and materials that everyone is willing to share at these events. Hat’s off and a HUGE thank you to this weekend’s tutors, many who travelled from afar, for volunteering their time and sharing the weaving magic in their workshops.

Happy days! As well as weaving, the ‘Basket Swap’ (bring something you’ve woven, add it to the table and take home a randomly distributed item, made by someone else) and the ‘Shared Materials’ table (take your pick of other people’s excess weaving materials) are just some of the other fun things that happen during the Mudgee Muster.

Then there is the food, glorious food ~ morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch on both days, catered for by the Mudgee CWA, fine dining and w**e on Saturday night, at Di Lusso Winery . . . AND plenty of time for socialising and catch ups with long time and new friends.

Here’s a sneak peak at what happens when Mudgee mudgee2ndwednesdayweavers host the Mudgee Muster, with tutors and weavers from around the state. Four concurrent workshops, where connections and new and renewed friendships are made, lots of story telling and laughter is shared, along with a tiny bit of occasional cussing, and of course plenty of creativity and weaving, as we spent the day learning and sharing skills and techniques.

Last night, a very creative group of humans slowed down for a few hours, and enjoyed weaving some magic and making coiled baskets.
