The mechanics behind these floral pillars.

Poppy Pete’s welding skills are very handy! I told him what I wanted and he whipped them up. These were made at full height but there is the option to break them down and have a base/frame of 1m tall. Now I’m wondering if I should get him make a further attachment so that it can become a big arch…. If you want a big, full and lush ceremony arch let me know and I’ll beg Pete to see what he can come up with!!

Where possible, I try to use a little floral foam as I can - for multiple reasons, a sustainability purpose as floral foam is a micro plastic but also I find that florals can last better in the heat when in fresh water. Florists that use foam, please don’t come at me! I do sometimes use foam as well!

And yes, they are cemetery spikes you see there. I have since purchased more as they work so well. I also used water vials for some stems.

I made as much as I could before heading to the wedding to ensure I could be a quick as I can when onsite.

I can’t wait to make different variations and styles of this. One full and one half side. A broken arch would be amazing also.

Bec + Mitch’s day was a beautiful one, with all the floral colour goodness! Swipe through to take a look💕

The ceremony pillars were a real feature here, sitting against the river backdrop. The pillar arrangements and the welcome arrangements were repurposed to the reception space. You need to get the most of your floral arrangements!

Emily’s bridal and bridesmaid’s bouquet.

Tell me below your preference for bridesmaids bouquets? Matching the bridal bouquet or contrasting?

I loved that the bridesmaid bouquet was different to the bridal bouquet - and then the ceremony urns arrangements were slightly different again but all tying in together at the same time.

Wishing a very happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Mums out there! What a magical, challenging and amazing journey motherhood is! This can also be a difficult day for some. Sending big love to all who find today though.

Thank you everyone for all your orders and support this year. This has been our biggest Mother’s Day yet and what a week it has been!

Thank you to Mum, Pete and Chris for your help and doing all the deliveries. The boys and I had a great time at Three Black Sheep with our little stand. The kids consumed a lot of food and drinks there and only fought a little!

And now it’s time for a 🥂and to spend time with family (whilst missing a few loved Mums today).

Don’t forget to trim your stems and change water every few days!

Now that weddings are finished, it’s assumed that life slows down a bit. Apart from it being Mother’s Day this weekend (bigggg week), I also like to tell myself that everything slows down too and I live in deliberate, ignorant bliss for a few days! However, the gift flowers don’t stop and more importantly - having a flower farm means we never stop, ever. Currently we are working on bed prep to begin planting soon (hello spring flowers), old crops need to be pulled up. Cover crops planted. Dahlias to be lifted and divided - although we haven’t had a killing frost yet. And by this, I mean that it doesn’t kill the plants, just sends them into dormancy. But if we don’t get a frost soon, I will manually trick them into dormancy (is this something you want more info on??). And the list goes on and on!

When people say to me that they’d love a flower farm, I always joke ‘do don’t it!’. It’s a lot of work and Mum’s help is invaluable but at the end of the day, I do love being out there and using home grown blooms in your bouquets as well as our farm bunches during the growing seasons.

Casey + George’s wedding flowers!

Lots of blooms from the flower farm made their way into these bouquets and buttonholes, including the last of the dahlias!

I always get asked if I use all my own flowers in weddings. No I don’t! Ahh the pressure! Generally I source all wedding blooms through the wholesalers in Melbourne. I may use some of my own flowers but generally I may have the varieties needed or the volume required. And what happens if we get a big weather event that wipes out my crops and then it’s too late to order what I need. This wedding was just personals though(when you hear florists say this term - it’s your bouquets and buttonholes), so I loved being able to use lots of home grown blooms. It also helps when you have a cool bride who gave me a general style to work from.

What do you think of these bouquets? Cute and fun or not your style?

Sammy + Hayden got married on the farm near Moulamein and what a day it was!

Sammy’s bouquet was a special one. Her Mum and Grandmother had Singapore orchids in their bouquets so it was an important tradition to carry on. We included phalaenopsis and mini phalaenopsis orchids as well to complement. And because Sammy had orchids, Hayden needed them too in his buttonhole.

The ceremony location was down by the Edward river. The background itself was a feature so the ceremony flowers weren’t to take over. We created low clustered meadows, that along with the flowers at the aisle entrance could be repurposed to the reception space. You always want to get the most out of your flowers!
