💙 Our Masi’s (3/5 sisters) singing the shabad Sansar Samundey for Gur Sevak’s paath in Sydney last year. The first time I heard this shabad was at a family Satsang; and everybody couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful it was. The melody of our Beli Masi truly transported us. Sevak and I wanted to learn the Shabad and sing together.

💙 21/12/2021, on Sevak’s birthday, our families came together for a Satsang to celebrate Gur Sevak ✨ and through many voice breaks and tears, I sang this Shabad; taught by our sweet Beli Masi. And in true zoom fashion, nobody heard it (😩).. so Ma asked me to sing it again - I’d like to think that was Sevak taking his turn to also sing the Shabad as we both said we would 🌊💙

450ml hand poured soy wax candle.

Our Basant candle is made using coco-soy wax and scents of Vanilla, Patchouli and Sandalwood that are blended and hand-poured into sustainable, reclaimed coconut shells. The candle is decorated with small, natural dried flowers.

Raag Basant (ਬਸੰਤੁ) - Basant symbolises the changing of the season and the freshness of Spring. This Raag encourages one to complete a Spring cleaning of the mind and free it from the cobwebs of maya to create a fresh start. One is inspired with hope for new beginnings, cultivating change within.

FRAGRANCE

VANILLA - Inspires peace, dreams, and luck, and helps to improve sleep quality.

PATCHOULI - Patchouli oil stimulates the nervous system. It brings a sense for the sacredness of life, assisting in our connection with the planet and the vibrational patterns that we may encounter upon our journey. Thank you for your kindness 🌻

‘s last Instagram post is a series of artworks I gifted him for our anniversary / Valentines Day💘

The message of thanks was to us, from the brilliant artist

I believe Sevak chose to include this message of thanks first on his series of posts to Instagram for his Sangat.
Thanking us all for our kindness that we have shared with him, and continue to share with each other; the world Sangat ✨

Though I think when we look at his post now, we all feel it is Sevak we are thanking, for his kindness 🥰

-

His message of “thanks” stuck with me so completely, that I just had to incorporate the same message on Jyoti Jot’s thank you cards: the first image in this post.

Thank you for your support, before the journey even began ✨🌻

The artwork on the thank you card pictured above is my edited version of one of my favourite pieces I gifted Sevak.

The artwork by Elaine is based on a picture of our last date together in person (February, 2020) 💘

The final, and most favourite part of these thank you cards are our names ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਕੌਰ (Amrita Kaur), and
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿੰਘ (Gur Sevak Singh)
in each corner, handwritten in Punjabi by Gur Sevak!
(With a quill and ink…of course Sevak has a quill and ink!😅)

Just like each candle, these thank you cards are a piece of me, a piece of Sevak, and the jot (light) of Ek (Divine One) within us all.
🌞🌕🌻💘✨

✨ Our journey of Jyoti Jot ✨

The next 3 pictures I want to share with you all, are of our last conversation together on WhatsApp - 19/05/2021.

A blessing that Sevak could be a part of Jyoti Jot from its inception, and continue to guide me on each step of this journey. Our journey ✨

The next image is of Sevak and I when I was around 10 years old.
I remember being so shy, next to the handsome boy with honey-golden eyes💘 From that moment, our hearts beat as one ✨

Though this is one of my first memories of you Sevak, we’ve always known that our journey together started long before this. And will continue eternally, into Ek 🌻

Thank you all, for being a part of our journey and Sangat 💛

Dhan Waheguru Ji ✨
Dhan Sevak ✨

Thank you for your kindness 🌻

Jyoti Jot - immersed in the eternal light ✨

When it came time to put a name to this idea, I searched and researched for something that could encapsulate / express / embody / signify exactly what this brand means.
More than just candles. More than just me.

The art of Sikhi. The love of Sevak. The light of Ek. All in one.

And then I came across the phrase:
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ | Jyoṯī jot

In it’s original language, Jot comes from word Jyoti, which means light. In this context it refers to Divine light.

This term refers to the joining of an enlightened soul to their creator, and is often used when referring to death of our Sikh Gurus.

The physical death of a respected person.
The journey home for an immortal Soul.

Light merged with light.
Sevak merged with Ek.

Sevak was, is, and always will be the light of my life, heart and soul.
It is my sincerest hope, and honour to continue our dream, and be able to share his light with you all - through these candles.

May His light continue to shine eternally, for Sikhi, Seva and Sangat.

Dhan Waheguru Ji ✨♥️
Dhan Sevak ✨🌻💘
Thank you 🥰

Aarti, the Bani of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Dhanaasri. [Ang 13 & Ang 663]

Guru Nanak Dev Ji explains how the Aarti of Ek is performed perfectly in nature:
The Divine Creator’s divine creation.

The word Aarti translates to “ceremony of light”, and is derived from the Sanskrit word आरात्रिक (ārātrika) meaning “light that removes darkness”.

🔈 SOUND ON

A short voice clip of Gur Sevak reflecting on Guru Nanak’s Aarti.

Gur Sevak was telling me about a conversation he had earlier with his father about life | death ✨

He then continued sharing his own thoughts -

“Guru Nanak started it with his talking about like.. the Universe, and the world, and how important it is. And how there’s so much of God in this Universe. And (ummm) like just look at Sohila you know the ਗਗਨ ਮੈ ਥਾਲੁ ਰਵਿ ਚੰਦੁ … | Gagan mai thāl rav cẖanḏ… like all these stars.. that is Your Aarti, you know?” 🥰✨

||

Gagan mai thāl rav cẖanḏ ḏīpak bane ṯārikā mandal janak moṯī. Ḏẖūp mal▫ānlo pavaṇ cẖavro kare sagal banrā▫e fūlanṯ joṯī. ||1||

In doing Aarti of the Almighty, (thaal-u) the salver is (mai) in the form of (gagan) the sky, on which have been placed (rav-i) the sun and (chand-u) moon (baner = become) as (deepak) the lamps; (manddal) the constellation of (taarika) the stars is (janak) like (moti) the pearls.

(Malaanlo) fragrance of the Sandalwood trees is (dhoop) the incense, (pavan) the air (karey = does) moves like (chavro) the swash and (sagal) the entire (banraaey) vegetation is (phoolant) flowers before the (joti = light) the Supreme Spirit. 1.

Kaisī ārṯī ho▫e bẖav kẖandnā ṯerī ārṯī. Anhaṯā sabaḏ vājanṯ bẖerī. ||1|| rahā▫o.

(Kaisi) how can (teyri) Your Aarti (hoey) be done o Almighty, (khanddna = destroyer) banisher of (bhav = world) births and deaths thus granting emancipation -, because you have no form?

(Sabad = word) sounds in nature represent (anhataa) the ceaseless (vaajant) playing of (bheyri = drums) celestial music. 1.

(Rahaao) dwell on this and contemplate.
