Life has been beautifully quiet lately. Last year I ran around like a possessed person doing everything I could to generate money for the gallery. The result of which was increased expenditure, a fried nervous system and very little time in the studio. Any studio time was usually spent staring at a wall, sleeping on the floor or getting deeply frustrated that I couldnā€™t clear the noise in my head.

This year I decided just to focus on painting. Less external jobs, less workshops, less murals. A bold move when running a business of this size. But as all artists know- the creative space needs to be protected and canā€™t just be conveniently accessed between trade fairs and meetings with your accountant.

The result of my consistent studio practice has been better paintings, a regulated nervous system and ironically (or not), increased income. Turns out doing the thing that brings me joy is the path to sustaining my creative business. A lesson learned every 2-3 years. lol.

So many incredible Art Hour canvases by both kids AND adults!! I wish Iā€™d seen them all.

Providing a space where people can get gestural with an excellent colour palette and not worry about the mess is truly a great joy for me. As far as legacyā€™s go, itā€™s a pretty good one. šŸ™
