These are the build decisions I’d make again without hesitation (number 3 is the one everyone always asks about)

Building The Wattle House taught us a lot, but these are the calls that I feel have paid off the most. Higher ceilings changed the whole feel of the house, and the warmer white walls stop it from feeling stark or cold. Our alternate kitchen layout with the large farmhouse sink was one of the best upgrades we made, we use this kitchen so differently because of it.

Doing our own lighting and mirrors meant we got way more choice for the price. Splurging on tiles instead of going cheap made such a difference too, cheaper tiles have so much more height variation once they’re actually laid. That’s why they never quite look as good.

Changing the floorplan to fit a proper mudroom is one of those small tweaks that makes a daily difference. And the facade, while it cost more, is the reason this doesn’t feel like a volume build. Mind you, some days I do question how much it cost 😭

Save this for your next selections appointment so you can budget for some of these extra items. They are worth it, I promise.

Build regrets incoming! Lucky I don’t have too many, but if I’m being honest there are a few decisions that still bug me. The taupe behind our island bench instead of walnut is a perfect example of sticking to your vision! Somehow I still talked myself out of it during the selections process.
Some of these regrets are small (like why didn’t we add an extra water tap outside?) and some were more about us not specifying the exact measurements we wanted (so important). Also cream carpet with three boys and landscaping in winter? That one makes me laugh the most 😂
If you’re mid build or about to start one, save this post for your selections appointment 🙌🏽

I have to talk about this bag. I’ve been after the perfect cross body bag for ages, I wanted it to be not too big, but not too small, and this one from OiOi made the cut, because I’m such a huge fan of cord. The texture and colour is great and it goes with everything in my wardrobe right now (I’m a green gal may as well lean into it). Also mums and chaotic messy individuals: we all deserve a bag with a wipeable liner and a carabiner for our keys 🙌🏽
If you’re on the hunt for the perfect bag, maybe this is your sign.

I’ve been on a whole health & nutrition journey with my kids lately. I’m finding my boys are soooo much hungrier since starting organised sports and their busy life sometimes means you have to sneak in nutrition on-the-go. They are much less hangry when full so getting protein into them quickly is so key sometimes! I was so happy to stumble across Unrefined Nutrients™. They have clean, healthy ingredients in their kids’ immune protein powder, including probiotics. With chocolate, strawberry & vanilla they also stand on their own as a milkshake!

But my favourite way to use this immune powder is by making a no-bake slice, I’m dropping the recipe below in case you need some nut-free lunchbox inspiration 👇

No-Bake Raspberry Chocolate & Vanilla Protein Slice

INGREDIENTS
11/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup vanilla vanguard immune protein powder
1/2 cup sunflower seed butter
3 tbsp honey or maple syrup
2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
1 cup frozen raspberries
3/4 cup dark chocolate, chopped
1 tbsp coconut oil, melted (for topping)
2 tbsp cacao chocolate immune protein powder
