This morning I boarded the train to Thiruvananthapuram to where I will be doing my Ayurvedic course Herbology, dietary and nutrition.
The train trip has been a bucket list dream since reading the book Loin and I have always loved train travel, I got on the train early and managed to to AC sleeper bed. The trip was express, but still slow 5 hours I'm glad I made that call yesterday.

Checked into my course, had consult to see what needs working.
Had my first treatment as they work on you while you're here.
The treatment was nice but very different, I was like slippery fish on the table, I think they used 100l on me, and then you go into this whole body kettle steamer to sweat more.
Finished off with a bucket wash down.

Early to bed tomorrow, yoga first thing, then class.

By the way thanks for the well wishes, I feel heaps better and after treatment today it should be gone.
I know it's more then 1 photo ๐Ÿคฃ so you get the picture.

Some day's your plans don't pull off.
So I worked out it's hard to buy train ticket online, then my taxi and train travel wasn't matching up.
So I ended up making the decision to cut my Munnar stay short, which I was devo about as Sylvie was cooking a feast tonight as more guests were coming.
Sylvie has spoilt me with food and hospitality. If you haven't done home stay before try it, this was my first time and loved the experience.
Anyway I made decision to leave today to get to Aulva where my train leaves tomorrow morning.
Well I thought the trip back down would be easy, but NO with a head cold the altitude has played with my ears. The Indian drivers are CRAZY ๐Ÿคช ๐Ÿ˜œ
I was feeling a bit funny in the tummy ๐Ÿ˜† and then
the first time I have seen a Western person in nearly a week is being sick on the side of the road and it sends me gagging, tapping the driver to pull over so I can be sick ๐Ÿ˜ซ. I pulled myself together for the rest of trip just praying to get to cheap room by the train station. The counter man rang his friend to organise some food across the road.
Safe in my room with a soft bed.
Looking back I'm glad I did make the call as if I had to catch train for 4 hours after that journey I would be stuffed ๐Ÿ˜….
So sometimes it's about taking the deep breath and plans don't always go to plan.
Munnar is beautiful. They are tea ladies picking this morning.

Today was touring the tea fields and village market. Sylvie my home stay host is very knowledgeable and loves cooking.
It just amazed me watching these women working on side of steep hills.
The British came to this area and built the fields with their obsession of tea.
But the area was not established so they had to bring people in from nearby states, build houses and facilities to house them.
They built these long buildings that would be 4m wide and 30m long and have yes 8 rooms that whole families live in, they gave 100 year lease so it is multi generational. The tea worker still live in these houses.
The older lady pickers can only work 100 days of the year as it is hard work.
The nearby town of Munnar was built by the 2nd generation needing facilities.
The one company nearly owns all tea plantation of Munnar, they employ over 10,000 people to work the factories and farms.

What day, my arse is sore from clenching and I probably have skid marks in my pants and feel like I have been on episode of India truckers. ๐Ÿคฃ. The drive up to Munnar was hair raising to say the least my driver had little side swipe of another car got out and had a very animated conversation with the other driver, then got back in the car like nothing happened.
We finally got to my home stay Sylvie husband carried my bag on his head along goat track winding through tea plantation to my room for the next 3 nights.
Sylvie told me yes just walk that way and around, it is goat country. But I stopped along the way to photograph the village life, played a bit of soccer with some young boys which I think I was there entertainment ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ.
Got the top the road to a veg stall selling grilled corn.
Back to my room with the most amazing views.
This is what Travel is about.
I'm going to put few bits in my stories today. So you can get the picture. ๐Ÿ˜†

Trust a good tut tut guide to take you to the off the beaten track. Edwin took me to the non tourist area's for some really interesting true Kochi life.

So if you don't know I'm into off the beaten track, authentic life photography, but I love to talk to locals about real life issues. Especially environmental.
The ocean is a bit of passion and climate change.
And if you don't believe in climate change, well you need too.
Today I went to a small fishing village, the locals told and showed me how the ocean has risen in the past 2 years, they are getting more tsunami that are washing their village and live hoods away for many reasons.
This village relied on the tourist to come buy fish and eat at their cafe's along the beach. But in the past 2 years the ocean has come up that much it has washed the 2 hotels away, made the beach unsafe to swim. So now they have to take their fish to markets and it's harder to fish with currents.
I have come across this in multiple Asian countries.
The fishermen are salt of the earth, the eco warrior's.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. ๐Ÿงœโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿš๐Ÿชธ๐ŸŒด

Today has been so nice, I met a tut tut driver Edwin out the front of my home stay, he took me to many different types of worship as Kerala is very mixed religion, he took me to spice shop's, perfume museum and lots of other places around Fort Cochin.
My highlight was being invited to his home for lunch where his wife Shirley made a beautiful meal of beetroot & coconut salad, (i now know how to make), vegetable curry and rice. Sitting at their table was so humbling and welcoming. We talked about many subjects about India.
I had my first Ayurvedic massage which was fantastic after a long day yesterday and coming down with cold.
Fort Cochin is very laid back.
My day comes down to one word of kindness โœจ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’›
I know I said 1 photo but I had to take 2.

Today I did women's circle at South West Women's Health Centre in Bunbury.
Talking about food connection and how it nourishes your body and mind. Yes we can eat food, but it's also how we share food with others, opening up conversations, connection and communities.
I made simple light lunch for us to share.
It was really nice to hear from other people and their journey with food.

This little workshops was in kind service which is made possible by people when you come to my paid workshop a percentage goes back into the community to help inspire people to lead healthier lifestyles. So thank you to all that have come to one of my workshops.
This was my last workshop as I'm off to India on Monday ๐Ÿฅณ to learn something new. Ayurvedic.

I had lovely group of people come to my Passion for Pulses Workshop this morning at Greenbushes Community Garden. Talking all things Pulses and Legumes, tin versus dried, what different beans do what different nutrient, dietary benefits to nourish your body, cooking and sprouting it was big topic.

I cooked a Mexican black bean dish, and Italian white bean and Silverbeet dish using Silverbeet and herbs out of the garden.
I made Garlicky White bean dish with Jews, and a Chickpea, roast Pumpkin and sprout salad.

We shared all the dishes with lively conversation.
My favourite time is when we come around the table sharing the food and conversation, it really brings community and connection.

Thanks to LGM industry sponsoring this event and Greenbushes Community Garden for inviting me to share my and knowledge and inspire people to eat to nourish their body and mind.
