Neil and Pat Smith hosted us one afternoon a couple of years ago in their lovely home during our field trips and we had a great time. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience with Jade and are well worth looking up. A great article in the local Eyre Pensinsula Advocate.

The Cowell Jade – an alluring yet tough gemstone – is having a resurgence in its home town.

I encourage all RGMC members👍 to attend if possible to support our sister club. Its a great day out and there is always a great array of gems , minerals, fossils and other goods to buy/admire. Last Saturday we attended the Old Berri Racecourse courtesy of our hosts Peter and Mel Sargent from Miracle Park Stables and we found lots of relics and also learned to fine tune our metal detecting skills and learned more about how our various machines work! Darren B our member from Mildura made the special trip across the border and he found some interesting relics from a bygone era. Big thanks to Peter and Mel for the BBQ lunch and their great company, we will be back!

These finds were collected alongside the now defuct Berri to Renmark railway line during a recent trip by our metal detecting group. It is always an interesting day out and while the Riverland is not known for gold, it does have some great relics from bygone eras in our rich past history.@
