Mount Ommaney Timber Floor Restoration

One of Our Most Challenging Timber Floor Restorations

Following the 2010 Brisbane floods, Creative Timber Floors was called to a challenging project in Mount Ommaney to restore approximately 125m² of 130mm-thick timber flooring.

The floor had no conventional bearers or joists. Instead, the timber slab was sitting directly on brick walls above the level below. After the flood, the house had been completely gutted, leaving the floor unstable and moving underfoot, with variations of up to 20mm over just one metre.

Adding to the challenge, hundreds of nails remained from previous floor coverings.

The owner had been advised that the timber floor would need to be removed and rebuilt.

We believed the original floor could be saved.

Using experience, patience and a different approach to timber floor sanding and restoration, we successfully restored the existing timber floor rather than replacing it.

The owner chose a retro-style finish, creating a unique result while preserving the original timber flooring.

Creative Timber Floors - Timber Floor Sanding Gold Coast, just had the opportunity of restoring this warn six year old floor. Who ever did the original work used UV coating then curing with ultra violet light….. if it starts to ware after 6 months it’s just a quick fix and a waist of money. Most of all, damaging your timber floor with permanent tannin stains. Highly recommend doing your homework on the product/coating that’s going down, because you can’t just keep having them sanded back every 3 to 5 years.

We give a six year guarantee against faulty materials or bad workmanship! We only use Bona Traffic HD 2Pack Waterborne Polyurethane coatings which can be re-coated every 8-12 years.
