You spend months planning it, and somehow the day itself goes by in a blur. With all the nerves and excitement it easy to forget to just be there to enjoy the biggest day of your life.
Here are a few little things can help it feel slower:
Take a moment before you walk down the aisle.
Before the music starts and everyone turns to look at you, stop for a second. Take a deep breathe. Take it in. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for.
Look at your person.
Not the guests, the photographer or whether everything is going to plan. This day is about you and them, nothing else matters in that moment.
Hold onto your bouquet.
It’s there through some of the biggest moments of the day. The walk down the aisle, your vows, your portraits, the just-married feeling afterwards. Notice the flowers, the scent, the way it feels in your hands. One day, those little details will take you straight back.
Sneak away together after the ceremony.
Even if it’s only five minutes. Before you’re swept into hugs, photos and ch*****ne, have a tiny moment where it’s just the two of you and you can say, omgosh we’re married, I love you!
Actually look at the space you created.
You chose the flowers, the tables, the candles, the tiny details. Before everyone sits down, walk through your reception together and see it exactly as you imagined it.
Don’t rush to the next thing.
Your timeline will keep moving whether you’re thinking about it or not. Let your vendors worry about what happens next. Your only job is to be there.
And every now and then throughout the day, stop.
Look around at all the people you love, gathered in one place, celebrating the two of you.
Because those are the moments you’ll wish you could step back into 🫶🏼
