Do you have any heirloom pieces? Things made by the women who came before you?

I inherited this little collection from Mum, who inherited it from her mum, who inherited it from hers. Three generations of women who crocheted the most intricate lace!

Imagine the stories that go with this yarn/project stash.

There’s a beautiful old tin with chalk in it. A to***co tin of hand-cut crochet instructions. Antique steel hooks so tiny I really have no idea how they worked with them.

It's a little reminder about the sentimental value of heirloom pieces. How meaningful and beautiful it is to make something to pass down to someone else.

I want to make more pieces like these - although I'll be doing it with slightly bigger hooks. 😂

Today’s class 🧶

I so love these afternoons teaching crochet. A room full of people who walked in saying “I’ve never done this before” and two hours later everyone was stitching away, helping each other, laughing and making something with their own hands.

And yep, crochet definitely takes practice - nobody becomes an expert in one class - but I’m always a bit blown away by how much people can learn in such a short time - and today’s ladies, how amazing!

So many good chats and laughs, and such a lovely way to spend an arvo. Feeling very lucky that I get to teach this stuff and meet such fun people along the way 🫶

And what a fab venue 🙌🏼
