Olga de Amaral. Colombian fiber artist, born 1932. For over six decades, she has pulled linen, gold leaf, and gesso into surfaces that sit somewhere between painting, sculpture, and weaving.

Her work draws on Andean textile traditions and pre-Columbian gold. Each piece is built by hand, strand by strand, until the textile begins to behave like a wall.

She's been on our minds through the current run of blue projects. A reminder that colour and craft can hold a room without ever raising its voice.
