I’ve been having fun trying out ideas for the free children’s creative activities at The Art of Trees Open Day at The Picture House Gallery.
Children's activities - Sunday, 11am – 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 3pm.

A reminder about the need to book for the free children's activities that will take place in the iconic art studio of The Picture House Gallery as part of The Art of Trees exhibition on July 26. There are only 3 tickets left for the morning session and slightly more left for the afternoon session.
Families are invited to participate in nature-based creativity inspired by Planet Ark’s National Tree Day resources. Come and paint a leaf, make a fingerprint tree or a leaf rubbing, or draw a tree, and produce a wonderful card to keep, incorporating your artwork.
The craft activities are suitable for ages 6 and above, there will be two craft activity sessions during the day, places are limited to 12 each session and bookings are essential. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Picture House Gallery will celebrate National Tree Day with an Open Day from 10am to 4pm. The aim is to encourage community to engage with the beauty and importance of trees through both art and hands-on creative experiences.

The Art of Trees Open Day will be held at The Picture House Gallery, 82 Yass Street, Gunning, NSW, and will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday July 26. The Picture House Gallery, Creative Gunning and Gunning District Landcare are proud to acknowledge and celebrate National Tree Day, and hope you will join us throughout the day to celebrate the beauty, wonder and importance of trees through art, imagination and community

The Open Day will feature a special free exhibition of tree-inspired artworks by acclaimed Australian artist Max Cullen. A curated selection of the works will be on display in the Main Gallery and prints of the works will be available for sale.
In the iconic art studio behind the Gallery, Creative
Gunning and Gunning District Landcare will host a
range of free children’s art and craft activities.

Accepting commissions is not a usual thing for our Creative Gunning members but occasionally they are presented as such a challenge, that they have to be accepted.

A couple of weeks ago, Roger, one of our woodworkers from Yass Valley Men's Shed, accepted the challenge to make a wooden ball. We think he has done a fantastic job and it is a fine demonstration of wood turning and his skill and patience.

A huge thank you to the Gunning community for helping to make the 24th Gunning Patchwork Weekend a huge success. We hosted more than 80 sewers from all over the place for 3 days of sewing and classes. Lots of positive feedback about the event, the facilities and the town’s friendliness. Most of our sewers stayed locally, ate locally and enjoyed the local sights and have all indicated their desire to come back again.

Well done to everyone who helped make this such a terrific event.
