The beautiful bearded iris's have started to flower and I am so excited to see which varieties are flowering each morning. I've planted them throughout the roses and I don't remember which ones I planted where, so it's a wonderful surprise to wake up and find what colour has opened up!

Thank you for growing incredible rhizomes.

We are planting cosmos seeds on the farm this week. Their delicate, airy stems make the most beautiful bridal bouquets.

Celebrating Spring with Taryn's vibrant bouquet yesterday. Poppies, roses, ranunculus, sweetpeas, stock, feverfew and geums.

My favourite moment when designing Taryn's bouquet was picking the sweetpeas and ranunculus with Fleur from our patch, then harvesting the delicate, floaty geum stems the morning before the wedding.

Today's garden harvest - ranunculus, sweetpeas, pansies, muscari and forget-me-nots πŸ’™
As I wondered through the patch, enjoying the quietness and much needed rain, I found myself drawn to soft blues and honey toned stems. My love for the humble pansy is ever expanding as their stem length increases, new seed varieties bloom and I'm planting them anywhere I can tuck them in.

Some of my earliest garden memories are playing with pansies underneath Pa's roses. I remember bright colours and an abundance of flowers. This winter, I'm loving growing these frilly varieties and hope our girls grow up loving these pretty little flowers too πŸ’•

My best advice - do weddings your own way!

I designed Chelseas's bridal bouquet and her maids designed their own with stems from farm buckets supplied by us the day before the wedding.

Hello, I'm Ash the founder of YHFF.
YHFF is an event florist and microflower farm tendered to by myself and my husband Lachie.

I love golden hour light, reruns of m*a*s*h episodes and a delicious milky white tea. I'm not a florist who you will find making reels or always on stories. Rather, I like to spend my time in the garden tending to plants along side my two beautiful daughters Fleur and Jean.

YHFF offers space for a couple of weddings per month which allows me to continue to juggle farm, family and my vet clinic; my other life passions.

My favourite wedding designs are when I am given a colour palette and I can surprise the couple with the best seasonal flowers. My designs are founded in 'slow flowers principles' meaning I use locally grown flowers first and then we only purchase Australian flowers when we need extras.

My designs are inspired by the garden and nature. I love nothing more than discovering a hidden gem in a garden and it's not uncommon to find secateurs in my ute just incase I happen to see a road side bush that needs a little trim!

Our micro farm grows a mix of annuals and perennial plants. It consists of 20 beds that we nurtured with aged sheep poo and worm farm castings. We grow ranunculus, tulips, sweetpeas, daffodils, dahlias and roses to name a few.

As I look out the window currently, the daffodils are starting to shoot through the ground and I am reminded of how our farm started, through a shared love of daffodils and I am so grateful for the opportunities it has given us. Ash ❀️

Beautiful imagery πŸ“· captured by when I spent a beautiful day in the hills in New Zealand designing.
