Sally the Printmaker A passionate artist collecting recruits for her printmaking posse. Why don't you join the tribe? we could go on. Why not come and join the print party soon?

Being creative is in her DNA

Sally’s artistic inclinations began the moment she was able to pick up a coloured pencil. Her childhood was spent growing up in the Australian bush, now living in the Adelaide Hills, Sally can be found in the outdoors wandering, dreaming, and gaining inspiration from her surroundings. Majoring in illustration at the University of South Australia, Sally has spent more than 20 years heading up a high-profile Design and Marketing consultancy firm here in Adelaide, South Australia. Her love of printmaking stems from a reaction against the digital, the mass-produced and overexposure to advertising. To use print as a way of making art – every time you lift that bit of paper off the plate you never know what you are going to get – no matter how much planning you do. It is all those happy accidents – interesting marks, the way the ink sits on paper, even the plate ….. She regularly teaches small group printmaking workshops, empowering students with her relaxed and fun sessions. Sally loves to see people’s confidence bloom as the realisation takes hold that they, too, can be creative. The joy that participants get from taking home their own print at the end of the day is a great motivator for her.

Alright, printmakers. It's feedback time!

We've swapped prints, celebrated our amazing artists, brought together a bunch of brilliant printmakers from around the globe and wrapped up another Print Palooza for the fourth year running.

But before I start dreaming up the next one, I want to hear from YOU.

The good, the bad, the things that made you grin, the things that made you scratch your head, and the things you reckon we could do better.

I genuinely want the honest stuff. What worked for you? What didn't? Was there something you loved? Something you missed? Something you'd like to see done differently next time?

No need to sugar-coat it. I'm a printmaker. I can handle a bit of constructive criticism (and I've survived enough dodgy registration to prove it).

Print Palooza is a community effort, and your thoughts help me make it better for everyone.

So, over to you.

What's one thing you'd keep, one thing you'd change, or one thing you'd love to see in the next Print Palooza?

Drop it in the comments, or send me a message if you'd rather have a private chat.

I'm listening. Let's make the next one even better.

Fresh ink Friday.

That happy place where the ink rolls; there is that gorgeous little sizzle, the smells are just delicious, and the print gods are playing nicely. There's something about the whole process that just makes me happy. The rhythm, the anticipation, that little lift of the paper to see what's happened underneath.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes those happy accidents are the best bit.

But when it all comes together? Bloody magic.

Now tell me, printmaking gang… what's your favourite bit of the process? The inky smells, the sound of the roller, or that moment you lift the paper and see what you've made?

I grew up with cassette tapes, mixtapes made for your best mate, handwritten letters (stamps were 20¢) and photos you had to wait a week to get back from the chemist.

We made stuff. We got things wrong. We had another go. And sometimes, we made something pretty bloody good.

Now AI can whip up that s**t in seconds, write a poem and create just about anything you can think of. It's clever, but there's something about it that makes me want to head straight back to my printing press.

Because there's something pretty special about making something with your own two hands. The wonky bits, the happy accidents, the hours spent figuring it out. The fact that it exists because YOU made it.

Who else agrees that the new luxury isn't more shiny stuff? I strongly believe it's "stuff" made by actual humans. And I reckon that's worth celebrating.

Share this with a fellow 80's buddy who gets it.

Call me a rebel, but I'll keep making things by hand and continue to make a mess for as long as I can!

THE NIGHT OF ALL NIGHTS!

There is something pretty special about bringing our creative community together to celebrate printmaking, friendship and a shared love of making art.

The 2026 Print Palooza exchange and exhibition has brought together more than 160 prints from artists around the globe, and seeing them all come together in one place is always an absolute joy.

A huge congratulations to all our award winners, selected by our wonderful judges. Your work has captured imaginations, impressed our judges and helped make this year's Palooza something truly special.

And to every artist who took part, thank you for being part of this international printmaking community. This is what Print Palooza is all about, sharing our work, supporting one another and celebrating the magic of printmaking, without borders.

Here's to the artists, the prints, the connections and another unforgettable Print Palooza!

The exhibition will be running at Pepper Street Arts Centre, Magill Road, all month!
